1. Illumination on dark roads
High beams are not recommended for use when passing through busy roads, such as the streets of Jakarta, because the overly bright light can dazzle other drivers who are passing by your car. This can even trigger accidents. When on busy roads, it is better to use low beam lights.
In contrast, when you are driving through quiet areas with minimal lighting, high beams can be used to illuminate the road. High beams are not only used in car lighting systems. Stadiums, parks, or places that require long-range lighting also use these high beams.
2. Illumination on foggy roads
High beams, besides being used for illumination on dark roads, can also be used as lighting when you are driving on foggy roads. Thick fog due to weather or when passing through mountainous areas can obstruct your vision. Additionally, the windshield of your vehicle may also be covered with dew.
Such conditions can often lead to accidents. Therefore, to penetrate the road, you need lights that have a long-range and brighter beam. High beams using HPL technology can penetrate foggy roads and send signals, especially to vehicles in front that there is a vehicle passing from the opposite direction, thus avoiding the same lane.
3. Code or marker for other drivers
The next function of car high beams is as a code or marker for other drivers, especially in incidental conditions. For example, when you are about to overtake another vehicle, you can turn on the high beams so that vehicles behind or in front of you do not suddenly also overtake and anticipate by reducing their speed or swerving.
You can also use it as a signal when driving, especially when there is someone from the opposite direction wanting to turn, so with this spotlight, you want to signal or code that vehicle to stop first. However, you must know how to use it. You may turn on the high beams only briefly, also accompanied by turning on the low beams.
Because spotlights have their own functions and roles, especially when you have to pass through poorly lit roads and foggy roads, it is advisable to ensure that your vehicle's high beams are functioning properly. Conduct a thorough check, especially if you are going on a long journey.
