This component is also often referred to as the activator and deactivator of the compressor's operation.

Function of AC Magnetic Clutch

The magnetic clutch functions as a connector between the compressor and the engine's rotation. Not only that, the magnetic clutch also functions to disconnect the compressor from the engine's rotation. The main function of the magnetic clutch is to regulate the operation of the compressor.

This component will later regulate when the right time is for the compressor to keep working even though the pulley is rotating in the engine. When the compressor starts to work, the pressure in the Freon section will increase.

Signs of AC Magnetic Clutch Damage

There are various signs of damage to this magnetic clutch component, such as:

1. Decreased Car AC Performance

One of the most noticeable signs of magnetic clutch damage is decreased AC performance. Thus, the AC only blows air and does not emit cold air.

2. Sounds Coming from the Magnetic Clutch

Sounds that come from the magnetic clutch can occur when the AC is on and off. When the AC is off, a sound will come out, generally caused by the continuous friction of the pulley rotation.

3. Change in Pulley Color

Another indication is the presence of red or burnt color on the pulley part. This indicates wear caused by repeated slipping. As a result, the edges become red due to heat.

You can check and ensure the damage to this clutch by positioning the ignition key and the AC button in the on position. Later, the magnetic clutch will be supplied with electricity from the car battery.

Then, you can check the electric current. If the center of the clutch is not attracted when supplied with electric current, it can be confirmed that the magnetic clutch is experiencing problems. Another way to do this is by using a test pen.
