Cara Cek Gejala PCV Valve Rusak dan Ketahui Fungsinya

In the car combustion system, there is a component called the PCV valve. This component functions to channel gases resulting from combustion to the combustion chamber. As a vital car component, symptoms of a damaged PCV valve must be known so that appropriate handling can be done.

Getting to Know the PCV Valve in Cars

Generally, every combustion in the combustion chamber will produce exhaust gases or what is also called emission gases. These gases will later be expelled from the exhaust valve. However, not all gases will be expelled.

There are some residual gases called blow by gas that sneak into the engine block. To prevent excess pressure in the engine block, blow by gas is eventually released into the air. Unfortunately, the impact of this pollutant is very high due to the presence of unburned hydrocarbons.

Not only that, there are also oil vapor contents that become toxic substances and hazardous materials. Therefore, the PCV valve was created. The function of the PCV valve component is to channel blow by gas into the intake of the combustion chamber so that it can be burned again. Of course, with the presence of this PCV valve, the effects of air pollution will be reduced.

Symptoms of a Damaged PCV Valve in Cars

Here are some symptoms of a damaged PCV valve in cars, including:

1. Symptoms Caused by a Clogged Valve

If the PCV valve is clogged, the first symptom you will feel is that the pressure in the internal engine will increase.

Not only that, the engine parts will also experience leaks and liquid and sludge will appear inside the engine. In fact, a damaged PCV valve will cause smoke from the car to appear suddenly.

2. Stuck PVC Valve

If the valve of the PCV valve gets stuck, a vacuum leak can occur with symptoms of the engine misfiring when not in use.

Then the PCV valve will experience a mixture of air from the fuel. Oil can also spread in the PCV hose. It can even lead to increased fuel consumption until the engine hardens.

What Happens if the PCV Valve is Damaged?

After understanding the symptoms of a damaged PCV valve, the next step is to know the consequences of that damage. With its function as a channel for exhaust gases to the intake manifold, a damaged PCV valve can cause the accumulation of sludge and oil leaks

Another effect that can arise from a damaged PCV valve is fuel wastage and it can damage other engine parts. This damage can generally be detected by looking at the malfunction indicator on the dashboard.

How to Check the Condition of the PCV Valve

After recognizing several symptoms of damage that the PCV valve has, you can check it directly. The inspection can be done by examining the PCV valve system. You can check the PCV valve system, for example, such as the rubber grommet, O-ring, and others.

Then, you can also remove the hose valve. Check the appearance of the valve. If there is slime, clean it immediately using lacquer varnish or using a PCV valve solvent.

If cleaning cannot be done, you can immediately replace the valve or replace the components around the PCV valve.

Considering the important function of the PCV valve, make sure you take good care of this component.

One way to maintain the PCV valve from damage is to perform regular car maintenance at an official workshop.

Make sure you take your car to an official Daihatsu workshop. At the official workshop or Daihatsu dealer, symptoms of a damaged PCV valve will be thoroughly checked. In addition, you can also book a service to avoid long waiting times.
