Inilah Fungsi Pelampung pada Karburator Mobil, Yuk Ketahui!

The Carburetor is an important component in a car because it plays a crucial role in the success of the engine combustion process. For the carburetor to work according to its mechanism, there is a float. So what is the actual function of the float in a car's carburetor? To satisfy your curiosity, let's find out the answer by paying attention to the following explanation.

Function of the Float in a Car's Carburetor

There are several functions of the carburetor float that you need to know. Here are the complete functions.

1. Regulator of fuel quantity

The float in a car's carburetor has the main function of regulating the amount of fuel that will enter the float chamber. This component will ensure that the amount of fuel entering is just right.

If the amount of fuel entering is too little, it will hinder the engine's performance, making it less optimal. On the other hand, if the amount of fuel entering is excessive, the car's engine will become difficult to start.

2. Temporary fuel storage

The carburetor float also functions as a temporary fuel storage. The float in the carburetor can be considered a temporary tank before the fuel reaches the engine's combustion chamber.

Working Mechanism of the Float in the Carburetor

The float in the carburetor has a simple working mechanism. Its working mechanism is divided into two conditions: when the fuel level decreases and when the fuel level is full. To help you understand better, pay attention to the following explanation.

1. When the fuel in the carburetor float chamber decreases

When the fuel level in the carburetor float chamber decreases, the float will automatically drop. This condition will cause the plunger to push the needle, causing the needle to drop as well. As a result, the needle valve drops and opens the fuel passage, allowing fuel from the fuel tank to flow into the float chamber.

2. When the fuel in the carburetor float chamber is filled

In this condition, the float in the carburetor rises. This causes the plunger to rise, pushing the needle valve to close the fuel passage. As a result, there is no fuel flowing into the float chamber.

When the car is running, the fuel in the float chamber will continuously rise and fall. Thus, the carburetor can function optimally so that the car engine performance is also maximized.

Other Carburetor Components You Should Know

In addition to the float, there are also several other important components in the car's carburetor, each with its own role. Here are the complete components.

1. Float chamber

This component serves as a container for holding fuel before the fuel distribution process to other engine components. This component is also known as the float chamber.

2. Air horn and air vent tube

The air horn is a carburetor component that serves as an air intake. Meanwhile, the air vent tube is a component that regulates air pressure in the float chamber.

3. Main jet

This component functions to regulate the amount of fuel that will be delivered to the engine's combustion chamber according to the needs of the combustion space.

4. Needle valve

This component serves as the entry point for fuel before it is channeled to the carburetor float chamber. This is the component that will open and close the fuel flow in the float chamber according to the float's working mechanism.

5. Slow jet

This component functions to distribute fuel when the car is in an idle condition.

Thus is the review regarding the carburetor float, its functions, and working mechanism. To ensure that your car's engine performance is always optimal, make sure to check and maintain the carburetor components regularly. If the components are worn out, take your car to a Daihatsu workshop for replacement.
