This is the Function of the Radiator Hose for Your Car Friends

The car engine consists of various devices, one of which is the cooling system that plays a role in cooling the friction that occurs between the cylinder and engine components. The radiator hose is a part of the cooling system components that has an important role as a connector between the main radiator and the engine. So, what are the functions of the radiator hose in a car engine?
Understanding the Definition and Function of the Radiator Hose
Generally, a normal car engine has two types of radiator hoses, namely the upper hose and the lower hose. Although made from the same material, each type has differences in the bend model. This depends on the design and model of the engine used in your car.
The radiator hose components use rubber as the main material with a certain thickness. This rubber is quite flexible, but inside it, there are several threads that add strength to the radiator hose.
Working at quite high temperatures, this radiator hose is made from heat-resistant rubber material.
Friends, when talking about the function of the radiator hose, it is actually the same as hoses in general, which is to flow water. However, what is flowed is not ordinary water but coolant (special radiator cooling fluid).
So this water will later be channeled to the engine part when the car is turned on. The goal is that when combustion occurs, the engine heat in the combustion chamber can be suppressed.
So what is the actual function of this radiator hose? Here are the functions of the radiator hose in a car engine.
1. Connecting the flow of engine coolant
The first function of the radiator hose is as a connector that flows engine coolant from the radiator to the engine and vice versa. This is important to maintain the temperature of the engine coolant from the engine to avoid overheating.
Water coolant from the engine will flow to the radiator through the upper radiator hose and then stop at the radiator due to the closure of the thermostat. The temperature of the engine coolant will cool in the radiator and remain in the lower tank of the radiator.
When the thermostat opens, the mixture of water coolant will flow from the lower radiator hose into the engine and function to cool its high temperature.
2. Reducing engine vibrations to the radiator
The radiator hose also has another function, which is to dampen or reduce engine vibrations so that they do not propagate and damage the radiator.
Generally, a running car engine produces continuous vibrations within the engine. The use of rubber material for the radiator hose ensures that vibrations do not propagate to the radiator and car engine.
3. Channeling coolant between the radiator and the engine
Next, the second function of the radiator hose is to connect the coolant flow between the radiator and the engine. In a car engine, the radiator is generally located at the front grille and is directly attached to the vehicle frame.
The radiator hose essentially functions like a hose/connector. However, what is flowed is not ordinary water but water coolant to connect the water channels in the engine with the water channels in the radiator.
Generally, radiators are made from three types of materials, including aluminum, copper, or brass. The radiator hose consists of two types: the radiator hose that directly attaches to the radiator part that flows coolant to the water pump. Meanwhile, the second hose connects the water pump to the engine.
