Meaning of the Name Rapih Dhoho
Typically, train names in Indonesia are abbreviations of the regions the train passes through, such as Joglosemarkerto, which is short for Jogja, Solo, Semarang, and Purwokerto. These regions are the main areas traversed by the train.
However, this is not the case with the name Rapih Dhoho. The name of this train is derived from the name of the government center owned by the Kediri Kingdom in ancient times. The name is Daha, the kingdom located in the city of Kediri.
The Daha Kingdom has existed since the Kediri Kingdom was established, which later became the center of the kingdom's city. Daha stands for Dahanapura, which means the city of fire, my friend.
The name Daha is mentioned in the Pamwatan Inscription issued by Airlangga in 1042. In fact, Daha also served as the capital of Majapahit in 1513, with the king at that time being Bhatara Wijaya.
History of the Rapih Dhoho Train
The Rapih Dhoho Train first operated on August 21, 1971. Initially, Rapih Dhoho served routes from Surabaya to two stations, namely Blitar Station and Madiun Station.
Rapih Dhoho was a third-class service pulled by the C27/C28 locomotive for the route from Blitar. For the route from Madiun, Rapih Dhoho was pulled by the D52 locomotive.
However, in 1972, the journey to Madiun Station from Kertosono Station was halted. This was due to the number of passengers consistently failing to meet the minimum quota.
Pocket Route with Two Names

This train indeed serves a pocket route from Surabaya back to Surabaya. Uniquely, the Rapih Dhoho Train will change its name when returning from Blitar Station to Surabaya via Malang. The name is Penataran, which serves the route from Blitar Station to Surabaya Station.
Although in 2011 the Rapih Dhoho Train was pulled by the BB301 locomotive, it was previously pulled by the CC201 locomotive in 2004—2005. However, now the train is sometimes pulled by the CC206 locomotive.
