Car Air Conditioner Compressor Components, Functions, and Maintenance Methods
Recognizing the components of a car's AC compressor along with their functions and maintenance methods is important. Why is that? Because the AC compressor is the heart of the car's cabin cooling system. When the car's engine is running, this component will also be active. If you want to learn more about this component, just take a look at the following review.
What Is the AC Compressor Component in a Car?
The car's AC compressor is one part of the car's AC that plays an important role in cooling the cabin. The AC compressor component in cars is divided into two types: rotary and piston. In the rotary type, the compressor functions in the absorption and compression of freon. Meanwhile, in the piston type compressor, the compressor utilizes the reciprocating motion inside the compressor cylinder to perform the compression and absorption of freon.
Functions of the AC Compressor Component in a Car
The AC compressor has many important functions that need to be known. Here are the complete functions.
1. Absorbing freon
The main function of the car's AC compressor is to suck in freon that is still in the form of low-pressure gas.
2. Compressing gas
After the AC freon is sucked in, the AC compressor will compress the low-pressure gas freon into high pressure.
3. Converting gas to liquid
The high-pressure gas will then be pumped by the condenser. When the gas is inside the condenser, it will be converted into liquid. This process is usually referred to as condensation.
4. Circulating freon
The liquid that has undergone condensation will be channeled to the receiver dryer for the dirt filtering process. After the dirt is filtered, the high-pressure liquid will be directed to the expansion valve to be converted back into gas. The expansion valve will lower the gas temperature, making the evaporator cold. Subsequently, the cold air from the evaporator will be channeled to the car cabin using the air blower. This cold air will then be absorbed back by the compressor. Thus, the freon circulation can work continuously when the AC is turned on.
How to Properly Maintain the AC Compressor Component
To prevent the car's AC compressor from wearing out easily, proper AC compressor maintenance is required. Here are the maintenance methods.
1. Using the AC compressor regularly
Using the AC compressor regularly in weather that is not too hot can extend the wear life of the compressor. Why is that? Because it can consistently maintain the flexibility of the components within the AC compressor.
2. Checking freon regularly
Regularly checking the freon can prevent the AC compressor from easily breaking down. This way, you can know the condition of the freon, whether it is running low or not, so you can refill the freon when it is almost empty.
3. Regularly cleaning the condenser
To ensure the AC compressor functions optimally and does not break down easily, you also need to regularly clean the condenser. As is known, the condenser also functions as a cooler by transferring heat from the freon to the outside air. If this condenser is rarely cleaned, dust and dirt can clog this component, obstructing airflow and disrupting the compressor's performance.
4. Periodic servicing
Lastly, you can have your car's AC serviced periodically. By doing periodic servicing, you can minimize the potential for more severe damage. Why is that? Because you can immediately replace components that are starting to wear out.
Speaking of periodic servicing, don't forget to service at a Daihatsu workshop. Because at this workshop, they are not only experts in car AC but also in overall car servicing.
