Definition of Piston
The piston is a component of a four-wheeled vehicle located in the cylinder block. Its function is quite important, especially for driving safety, as it receives combustion pressure. When combustion is received, the pressure will be transmitted to the crankshaft via the connecting rod.

1. Converting combustion expansion energy

When entering the final stage of the compression work, the spark plug will ignite. Subsequently, combustion occurs, resulting in an explosion in the cylinder. This explosion consists of expansion energy, combustion residues, and heat.

2. Pushing out combustion residues
The next function is to push out the combustion residues in the form of gas. When the piston is pushed upward, there is a crank mechanism, and energy will be redirected so that it moves back. The valve will open, and the residual combustion gases will be pushed out.
3. Controlling the volume space in the cylinder
This is the main function in cars, which is to control how large the volume in the cylinder is. It can be said that this function is similar to the working system of a pump. When the handle is pulled up, the volume will become larger, allowing more air to enter.
The opposite occurs when the pump handle is pressed. This event will make the volume in the tube smaller, and air will automatically exit. So, in general, its working principle is just up and down.
When in the downward position, the volume will increase, and the engine will suck in a mixture of fuel and air into the combustion chamber. Then, when the position is in the downward condition, the volume decreases, and the temperature and pressure will rise, pushing the residual combustion gases.

How the Component Works
Regarding how it works, it has been briefly mentioned in the previous section. Essentially, the piston has a working system that regulates the volume in the cylinder. When it is descending, the volume becomes larger and sucks air into the combustion chamber. Later, this air will mix with fuel.
Conversely, when in the upward position, its volume decreases and increases the pressure of the fluid mixture inside. The result of this combustion process is needed for the vehicle to move optimally. Thus, the simple sequence is that air is sucked into the cylinder, fuel material is compressed, then it generates mechanical movement, and finally, the gas residues will be pushed out.

Next, do not forget to always maintain cleanliness inside. The method is quite easy, which is to remove it from its position and soak it in a cleaning solution. However, if the condition is quite dirty, it is better to clean it manually to address spots that are not submerged in the cleaner.
