Understanding 3 Types of Car Putty and How to Do It

Having a vehicle is indeed one of the most desired things by everyone. So it's no wonder that many people buy cars, whether used or new. Many also prefer to buy used cars because they are more affordable.
But you need to be careful because there are usually dented parts. To address this, you need to pay attention to the following car filling methods.
Preparation Steps
Before repairing a dented car, it is advisable to prepare several necessary materials. However, there are actually several types of car fillers that need to be considered and chosen.
1. Putty Filler
Which in its implementation does not require a mixture but has a longer drying time.
2. Plastic Filler
Which has a faster drying power. Usually, this type requires mixing plastic material with additional hardener paste as needed according to the dosage.
3. Synthetic Filler
Which is a mixture of primer paint and talc powder. Because of its lower quality, it is reasonable that its price is quite affordable.
After understanding and choosing one of the three types of car filling methods above, the next step is to prepare the materials.
Among them are gloves, a cloth or microfiber towel, a mask, filler hardener (usually packaged with the filler or can be purchased separately), sandpaper, and thinner (to dilute the adhesive and dye mixture).
Also prepare primer paint, which generally uses two colors, namely gray and red. Then do not forget the filler itself.
Once all these materials are available, the next step is to make some other preparations. First, prepare the fiber body part along with fine sandpaper, then ensure that the surface has been cleaned.
If necessary, use a cleaning cloth to ensure the fiber body part is free from dirt and dust. Next, prepare a medium in the form of a tray used to mix the filler and hardener.
Pour the filler and hardener, mix until well combined. The next car filling method is to apply it to the dented area and it should not exceed 25 minutes.

Implementation Steps
It is advisable to carry out this filling process in an open area. Don't forget to wear safety equipment. Only then can you proceed to the implementation stage.
First, ensure that the car body to be filled is clean. If it is rusty, clean it using sandpaper and rust remover.
Check several specific parts that will be filled. If there are some dents, flatten them using a special nail like a dolly and hammer. Then clean the previously mentioned areas until they are smooth.
Prepare the primer or basic paint that has been mixed with thinner, with a ratio of 1:1. Then, paint the filled area with the basic paint.
After the filler is mixed with the hardener, immediately smooth it onto the targeted area using a scraper or filling tool. Apply it thinly, until evenly distributed gradually.
Wait until the filler dries, then smooth the filled area using sandpaper until it is fine and even according to the desired shape.
You can repeat this car filling method if there are areas that are still not even or not smooth. Then dry it again, sand it until smooth and even.
Once everything has been completed, you can clean it and then dry it. This way, your beloved vehicle is ready to be painted and its appearance updated.
Many may underestimate if there are dented or uneven parts on the surface of their beloved car. However, in reality, this will make the vehicle's appearance less appealing.
Therefore, it is better if you carry out the filling process by paying attention to several methods mentioned above.
