Mengenal Brake Pad Mobil, Fungsi & Cara Kerjanya

In the car braking system, there are several important components, one of which is the brake pad. So what is meant by this component? The brake pad is another name for the brake shoe. It is one of the disc brake components of the car that plays an important role in the success of the car's braking. If you are curious about this component, you need to pay attention to the following review.

A Brief Overview of Car Brake Pads

Car brake pads are components of the car that play an important role in the performance of the car's braking system. This component is part of the disc brake components of the car. In Indonesia, there are several other terms used to refer to brake pads. Some people call it brake shoe. And some also refer to it as disc brake lining.

Function of Brake Pads

There are several functions of brake pads that you need to know. Here are the complete functions.

1. Assisting in the success of the car's braking process

Brake pads function to press the disc brake or brake disc. This component will inhibit the rotation of the disc brake so that the rotation stops. To stop this, the brake pad will produce frictional force.

So it can be concluded that the brake pad functions to stop the speed of the car when the brakes are applied, even if it is done suddenly. The brake pad will make the braking process of your car function perfectly and without slipping.

2. Easing the process of traversing roads with steep inclines or declines

When you traverse roads with quite extreme terrain with many inclines or declines, you need the help of brake pads to maintain the balance of your car's speed during the braking process.

How Brake Pads Work

Brake pads have a simple working mechanism, and are interconnected with the performance of other components of the car's braking system. The working process of car brake pads begins when you intend to brake the car to reduce its speed.

When you press the brake pedal, the master cylinder will generate hydraulic pressure. This pressure will then be transmitted to the brake piston. Thus, the brake piston will send a command to the brake pad to immediately apply pressure to the disc brake.

As is known, the disc brake is a component that is connected to the car's wheels. If the wheels move, then the disc brake will automatically move following the wheel's movement. The disc brake itself is made of iron material, allowing it to dissipate the heat energy generated from the brake pad's friction more quickly.

In this process, the brake fluid component acts as a lubricant for the brake pad, so the generated pressure is stronger. Thus, the rotation of the disc brake can be prevented, causing the car's wheels to stop as well.

That is how brake pads work that you need to know. Given the important functions and workings mentioned above, the condition of the brake pads must be monitored. Immediately replace this component if the car's brakes feel less firm, the brake pedal feels less deep, the brake fluid volume decreases, and the car has traveled 60,000 km.

Don't forget to replace it at the nearest Daihatsu workshop, because Daihatsu workshops sell genuine car spare parts, ensuring quality and standards. In addition, the mechanics at Daihatsu workshops have high experience and competence, so the car's performance becomes optimal when used for maneuvering.
