Knowing the causes of diesel cars lacking power on inclines early on is very important. This is because this issue with cars is a common problem. So how can we properly address it? For more details, let's pay attention to the following handling methods.

Causes of Diesel Cars Lacking Power on Inclines and How to Overcome Them

There are several factors that cause diesel cars to lose power when going uphill. Here are the complete causes along with how to address them.

1. Fuel filter is too dirty

The first cause of diesel cars lacking power on inclines is due to the condition of the fuel filter being too dirty. Therefore, you need to clean the fuel filter.

If this component is dirty, the fuel mixing process will be blocked and less optimal. Moreover, dirt from outside will also enter the injection pump, causing the distribution of fuel in the car to be uneven.

This dirty fuel filter is usually caused by a lack of filter maintenance or the use of low-octane fuel.

To check the condition of the car's fuel filter, you can look at the water separator indicator light. If it lights up, then the fuel filter is dirty. To resolve this issue, you simply need to replace it with a new filter.

2. The car's clutch pads are starting to wear out

The second cause of diesel cars lacking power on inclines is due to the car's clutch pads starting to wear out. As is known, the clutch pads function as a power distributor between the transmission and the engine.

If this component starts to wear out, it can cause significant friction between the components of the transmission system. As a result, the engine becomes less powerful due to the reduced energy from the rotational power of the transmission system.

To address this condition, you need to routinely check the condition of the clutch pads. Replace this component immediately if the clutch pads are starting to thin out.

3. Fuel pressure pump that is starting to wear out and weaken

The third cause is due to the fuel pressure pump starting to wear out and weaken. As is known, the fuel pressure pump functions to spray diesel so that it can flow to the injector.

If this component starts to weaken, it can lead to a decrease in engine power. To resolve this, you need to take your car to the nearest Daihatsu workshop for component replacement.

4. Decreased compression

The fourth cause of diesel cars lacking power when going uphill is due to a decrease in engine combustion chamber compression.

As is known, diesel engines have a higher compression pressure compared to gasoline engines.

If a gasoline engine requires 10/11 kgm, then a diesel engine requires 30 kgm. If there is a decrease in compression, the process of mixing air with fuel becomes less optimal, causing the engine power to weaken.

To resolve this issue, you need to take your car to the nearest Daihatsu workshop for proper handling.

5. Change in injection timing position

The fifth cause is due to a change in the injection timing position. Although the position of this component rarely changes, it is possible for the position to shift during the fuel spraying process.

To resolve this issue, you must take your car to the nearest Daihatsu workshop. Because if it is corrected by someone who is not an expert, it can cause a significant decrease in engine power. It can even cause the car's exhaust to emit thick black smoke.

Thus, here are some causes of diesel cars lacking power on inclines and how to address them. To avoid the above problems, it is best to conduct a thorough and routine check of your car's components. If there are any minor issues, visit the nearest Daihatsu workshop immediately.
