Causes of Car Parking Sensor Not Sounding & Solutions
Currently, the latest car models are equipped with advanced and modern technology, both in terms of comfort and safety. For example, when parking the car, drivers are facilitated by parking sensors.
There are 2 types of parking sensors used by several well-known car brands in Indonesia, namely "infrared parking sensor" and "camera parking sensor".
Causes of Dead Parking Sensors
Before knowing the causes of parking sensors being dead or not sounding, also understand their function and purpose.
Parking sensors function as detectors of the area behind the car that can prevent collisions.
The use of sensors is certainly very important. Unfortunately, there are car owners who experience incidents where the reverse parking sensor does not sound.
This issue is actually common and often occurs. Here are several causes of dead parking sensors, including:
1. Disconnection of Sensor Cable Installation
One of the causes of the parking sensor not sounding is the disconnection of the sensor cable installation. Therefore, before replacing the sensor, it is better to check the cable installation first.
2. Damage to the Car Sensor
In addition to the disconnection of the sensor cable installation, another problem that can occur is a damaged sensor that cannot detect the area and emit a warning sound.
3. No Electric Voltage Flowing
You can also check the electric voltage at the sensor part. You can check whether the electric flow reaches the sensor or stops in between. Generally, sensors are features that require an electric flow to work properly.
4. Damaged Sensor ECU
There are various causes for parking sensors not sounding. Another cause could be due to damaged components.
You can check the module or ECU (Electronic Control Unit). Check if this part is still functioning or has been damaged and needs to be replaced.
5. Damaged Sensor Switch
Another component that plays an important role is the sensor switch. Among many users who experience the problem of the car's reverse sensor not sounding, the issue usually occurs in the switch component that is disconnected or damaged, preventing the sensor from emitting sound.
6. Buzzer Speaker Not Functioning
If you have checked the various components above and they are functioning normally, the problem may occur because the buzzer speaker is dead.
7. Light Fuse Not Functioning
If the light fuse is not functioning properly, the electric flow cannot enter to supply the sensor, causing the sensor to be unable to function in detecting the area behind the car.

How to Fix Dead Parking Sensors

To fix dead and non-functioning parking sensors, you need to know how to set the parking sensors correctly. Here are the easy steps, including:
1. Reconnect the Disconnected Cable
If the cause of the parking sensor problem is due to a disconnected cable, to restore its function, you need to reconnect the cable.
2. Clean the Dirty Sensor
However, if the problem is caused by a dirty sensor, to resolve it, you only need to clean it.
When cleaning, make sure all components are cleaned properly.
3. Check Electric Voltage
You can also check the electric voltage supply. Check using a measuring tool. This component cannot work if the electric supply is unstable or insufficient.
4. Replace Damaged Components
If the source of the problem is due to damaged components, you only need to replace the components, and the sensor will function as before.
Damage to the car's parking sensor must be addressed immediately. If the various methods above do not resolve the parking sensor issue, you can service it at an official workshop or Daihatsu dealer. Handled by experienced mechanics, the car sensor problem will be resolved properly.
