Car AC Maintenance by Keeping the Condenser Performance at Its Best
JAKARTA, JANUARY 2025, The air from the Air Conditioner (AC) feels warm. Suddenly, the cabin atmosphere becomes less cool while driving, and discomfort immediately arises.
The first thing that Daihatsu friends predict is that the problem is definitely caused by the freon running low. Or there is a leak in the fluid flow pipes causing the freon gas to escape.
Check the Condenser
However, Daihatsu friends may not realize that freon is not the only reason the AC is not cold. Moreover, in the car's AC system, there are several supporting parts, including the condenser.
This device is responsible for lowering the temperature of the freon gas until it becomes liquid. Then the liquid collects in the drier to be forwarded to the expansion valve, which is then directed to the evaporator to be blown into the car cabin by the blower.
Make sure the condenser gets good air circulation so that its temperature remains stable. Especially since its job is to cool the freon gas temperature. Therefore, the condenser, especially its fins, must always be kept clean.

Condenser Maintenance
- The way to keep the condenser fins clean is not difficult.
- Simply spraying water on the cooling fins is expected to wash away the dirt that sticks.
- However, it is not recommended to use very high-pressure water when doing this. Because it can damage the thin aluminum material of the fins.
- Condenser maintenance has no time limit, but periodic checks are necessary.
- Cleaning should be done after passing through puddles or after going through flooded areas. At that time, trash or dirt is more likely to stick to the condenser fins.
- Therefore, when watering, spray in the direction of the condenser fins. The aim is to prevent damage to the thin aluminum material of the fins from the water spray.
