Performance Gets Better, Here are 3 Tips for Choosing Good Oil for Automatic Cars

Choosing a good oil for an automatic car is a crucial step in maintaining your beloved vehicle. If you choose incorrectly, it can certainly lead to damage to the car.
The main thing to consider when selecting oil for an automatic car is to match it with the car's specifications. As long as the specifications are in the manual, you can use oil from any brand.
However, if the manual mentions several recommendations, it is better to follow the suggestions provided. This way, you can find any oil brand that is suitable for your beloved car.
In the homeland, automatic cars are divided into three categories based on their transmission. The car's transmission serves as the benchmark for what type and brand of car oil is suitable to use.
1. Conventional automatic cars
When choosing oil for conventional automatic cars, you must first understand the transmission of such cars. Oil for conventional automatic cars serves as a lubricant and has high-pressure hydraulic power.
This system facilitates smooth gear shifting, clutch engagement, and power transfer to the wheels. Typically, there are four types of oil recommended for conventional automatic cars, namely Mercon, Dextron III, T-IV, and ATF WS.
2. CVT Transmission
CVT car transmissions usually have a lower transmission system temperature compared to conventional automatic cars. The components within the system are also different, so the required oil will certainly be different.
CVT automatic technology tends to provide a smoother driving experience because the acceleration feels smoother and there are minimal jolts during gear shifts. The oil used is CVTF or CVT Fluid.
One tip for choosing oil for CVT automatics is to look for transmission oil recommended by the car manufacturer. Never be tempted by cheap oil prices, especially if its reputation is unknown.
3. Dual clutch transmission automatic cars
Dual clutch car transmissions are currently the most advanced. Usually, cars produced in high-end European countries like Audi, Ford, VE, Mercedes Benz, and BMW adopt the dual clutch system.
The advantage of this car transmission is its quick acceleration and smooth jolts. Allegedly, its acceleration can outperform manual cars. There are not many types of oil suitable for this transmission, but you can find it at official workshops.
Selecting oil for automatic cars can certainly enhance the car's performance. At the very least, you need to understand that automatic cars have a heavier function and working mechanism compared to manual cars. Therefore, it is important to choose quality oil.
Additionally, driving an automatic car needs to be done correctly. Just because the automatic transmission seems easy, it doesn't mean you can drive carelessly.
For example, if the car is stopped for a long time at a red light or in traffic. Don't just leave it in gear D while pressing the brake. It’s better to shift to neutral (N), as this can prevent oil leakage.
Other signs of careless driving in an automatic car include slow gear shifting and a feeling of jolting. Then the car's power decreases due to the sluggish transmission shifts.
You wouldn’t want your car to break down, resulting in spending a lot of money on servicing your beloved vehicle, right? From now on, pay attention to how to use and maintain your automatic car, including choosing the right oil to keep the car's performance in check.
