Vehicle Tax Costs
The amount of motor vehicle tax (PKB) varies depending on the type of vehicle, the year of manufacture, and also differs based on whether the vehicle is owned privately or as a company, agency, or government asset. The tax amount for privately owned motor vehicles is 2% for the first vehicle.
This tax amount will increase by 0.5% for each subsequent motor vehicle owned. Thus, the tax amount for the second motor vehicle is 2.5% and 3% for the third motor vehicle.
The basis for tax assessment is also based on the weight of the motor vehicle and the selling price of the motor vehicle. The weight of the motor vehicle has a relative impact on environmental pollution and the level of road damage caused by motor vehicles.
In addition, taxpayers are also required to pay a mandatory contribution for road traffic accident funds, known as SWDKLLJ. The SWDKLLJ fee differs between cars and motorcycles. Motorcycle riders pay Rp 35 thousand while cars pay Rp 143 thousand.
Car Tax Costs
This section will discuss how to calculate motor vehicle tax (PKB) for you. As mentioned above, motor vehicle tax (PKB) will vary depending on the selling price of the vehicle and ownership. However, specifically for car tax, the government is currently considering vehicle emissions in relation to car tax.
To calculate car tax costs, here is how:
- The car is the first ownership, so it is subject to a tax of 2%
- Selling price of the car x Progressive Tax = Rp 100 million x 2% = Rp 2 million
- Add the mandatory contribution for road traffic accident funds (SWDKLLJ) of Rp 143 thousand
- Total PKB to be paid is: Rp 2,143,000
Motorcycle Tax Costs
For example, for a 2015 moped with a selling price of Rp 15 million, the calculation for paying motorcycle tax online is:
- The motorcycle is the second ownership, so it is subject to a progressive tax of 2.5%
- Selling price of the motorcycle x Progressive Tax = Rp 15 million x 2.5% = Rp 375 thousand
- Add the mandatory contribution for road traffic accident funds (SWDKLLJ) of Rp 35 thousand
- Total PKB to be paid is: Rp 410 thousand
