1. Unpleasant Noises from the Car's Engine

Although, in principle, the tensioner is a car component that does not require frequent maintenance. However, if left unchecked, it will cause the tensioner to wear out quickly, especially when your beloved vehicle is often used.

For instance, when the engine of your four-wheeled vehicle produces a very disturbing noise during startup.

If this happens in your beloved vehicle, try checking the condition of the tensioner. It could be that the tensioner adjustment made by the vehicle manufacturer or service center is too tight.

2. The Back Area of the Timing Belt is Worn

Not only due to the tensioner being too tight or loose, the cause of the tensioner wearing out quickly can also be due to a worn timing belt.

To identify this sign, try rotating the tensioner pulley. When you rotate this component, does it produce a very loud noise or not?

If a loud noise arises from this component, it can be confirmed that the tensioner is worn. Sometimes this wear is not uniform on the back of the timing belt, due to improper adjustments made by the vehicle manufacturer.
