5 Sensor Penting di Sistem Bahan Bakar Injeksi

Now many automotive manufacturers produce motor vehicles by applying an injection fuel system. Did you know that injection engine motorcycles are equipped with advanced sensors? These sensors have the function of sending data to the ECU or Electronic Control Unit. Curious about what sensors are used? Check out the following review.

Some Sensors on Injection Motorcycles

1. MAP Sensor (Manifold Air Pressure) or Air Flow Meter (AFM)

The sensor named Air Flow Meter (AFM) is usually placed before the throttle body. The AFM is responsible for detecting the airflow entering the intake manifold. To support this task, the AFM is equipped with a return spring and a measuring plate. The air entering this Manifold Air Pressure sensor will affect the rotation of the potentiometer.

The potentiometer itself rotates to produce an output voltage that will be sent to the ECU via a signal. Then the ECU will calculate the amount of air pressure entering. Thus, automatically vehicles with injection fuel systems can determine how much fuel is needed for the engine to operate optimally.

2. IAT Sensor (Intake Air Temperature)

IAT or Intake Air Temperature is a sensor that has the task of detecting the temperature of the air entering the throttle body. Not only that, the IAT sensor also adjusts the ratio of temperature changes in the intake. After the MAP sensor performs its task, then through this sensor, the ECU will determine the amount of gasoline used for injection.

The amount of fuel sent to the ECU has been adjusted according to the engine temperature. The detected temperature is converted into an electrical signal sent to the ECU. Thanks to the presence of the IAT sensor, the amount of fuel injected by the vehicle's engine will always be at an optimal level. Thus, your beloved vehicle will have better performance.

3. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

As the name suggests, this sensor in the injection fuel system is installed on the vehicle's throttle body in the form of resistance values. Its task is to detect the angle of the valve opening in the throttle body. Similar to the Air Flow Meter sensor, the TPS also utilizes a potentiometer. When the throttle rotates, the potentiometer will also rotate and the resistance value changes.

4. Oxygen Sensor (OS)

The Oxygen Sensor or OS is responsible for detecting and comparing the mixture of fuel and air. The oxygen sensor is placed on the exhaust manifold, consisting of elements made of zirconium dioxide. The elements in the oxygen sensor are coated with a thin layer of platinum on the inside and have their own functions on the outside.

Not only that, the oxygen sensor also maintains the exhaust gases from combustion to always be optimal. The oxygen sensor will provide information to the ECU about which fuel mixture is more ideal. As a result, the exhaust gases produced by this injection fuel system engine are more environmentally friendly compared to the carburetor system.

Injection is indeed believed to be one of the most brilliant breakthroughs. Where all components of the vehicle's engine can operate automatically, and is very different from the carburetor system that uses components mechanically. Nevertheless, you should always maintain your beloved vehicle to keep its engine optimal.
