Daihatsu Charade Models Available in the Indonesian Market

Classic cars with interesting specs and unique stories are certainly sought after by collectors. The Daihatsu Charade type is a small car produced by Daihatsu that once became a favorite in Indonesia.

Daihatsu Charade first appeared around 1977. This car actually caught attention with its flat appearance. The first series is considered the ancestor of hatchback cars in Indonesia. Over time, Daihatsu gradually changed the appearance of this car. However, its small body was still maintained.

Daihatsu Charade G10

This is the first generation marketed in the 70s. Its shape is very flat like most cars marketed at that time. The most memorable characteristic of this car is the two round headlights at the front.

Not only that, the car's mirror still follows the style of that time, which was only available on the left side. This car was actually released with two door variants, but only one made it to Indonesia.

The Daihatsu Charade G10 marketed in Indonesia has four passenger doors (two on the right and two on the left). Then, one trunk door at the back. This is different from the version marketed in other Asian countries, which only has two passenger doors and one trunk door.

This car uses a 993 cc engine with a 3-cylinder configuration coded CB-10. The first generation Daihatsu Charade has a power output of 55 Ps at 55 rpm and a torque of 77 Nm @ 2800 rpm. It is said that this car is very light to drive and remains strong on inclines even when fully loaded with passengers.

 Daihatsu Charade G20

The next generation came around 1983. This car still carries the same engine as the previous generation. The difference is that this car has a fresher appearance, even though Daihatsu only added a few touches. The body of this car still looks similar.

However, the replacement of the front lights is considered a significant update. In addition, the mirrors have also increased, on both the right and left sides, making this car more perfect.

Moreover, this car is still widely marketed in Indonesia. The price is also very affordable, starting from around Rp20 million.

Daihatsu Charade G11/CS

This type of Daihatsu Charade is very different from the previous series. The body it carries is bulkier with a very modern front appearance. The boxy headlights at the front are paired with a honeycomb grille typical of cars from that era.

This car also has several facelift versions. This series of Daihatsu Charade became a favorite among young people in the 90s. The engine used is coded CB23, which can produce 52 Ps @5600 rpm and a torque of 75 Nm @3200.

Moreover, this car is still very easy to find. However, the price is still considered high, especially for younger models. This car is also easier to maintain.

Daihatsu Charade Turbo

Another type marketed in Indonesia is the Daihatsu Charade Turbo. In fact, the appearance of this car is not much different from the G11 series. The only difference is the additional engine carried inside this car.

The Daihatsu Charade Turbo uses a CB23 engine with an IHI turbo. Of course, the power of this car is greater compared to its “sibling.” However, it takes a lot of effort to find this car as it is very rare in the market.
