There have been many cases of car fires that can happen anytime and anywhere. A car cannot catch fire without a trigger. Usually, the cause of fires is often due to short circuits that create sparks and touch flammable surfaces.

Avoiding car fires is indeed necessary so that you are more alert to handle such conditions. A burning car will certainly harm you. Not only will you lose your beloved car, but it can also burn the surrounding area.

5 Tips to Avoid Car Fires

Do not let a car fire happen to you. It is better to prevent a car fire before it occurs. You can follow some tips below to prevent your car from catching fire.

1. Do Not Store Flammable Items Inside the Car

Many cases of car fires are caused by drivers storing flammable items inside the car. Flammable items can include liquid perfume, gas lighters, thinner, gasoline, and many more.

These items contain active materials, which if placed in a closed space with high temperatures can trigger a fire. Even a charging phone can potentially be a fire trigger. This can happen because the heat generated from the phone can ignite fabric or plastic surfaces.

2. Check the Car Engine Oil

The oil in the car can leak. Oil that drips can catch fire if it comes into contact with hot surfaces like exhaust pipes. As a result, this oil can become a trigger for your car to catch fire. Especially if you do not regularly change the oil, the chemical compounds in the oil can change.

Changes in oil compounds can cause the engine to overheat, its components to wear out, and can lead to fires. Always ensure that the oil in your car does not leak; if there is a leak, fix it immediately. This is done to prevent fires and to maintain your car's performance.

3. Do Not Park Near Fire Sources

The next tip you need to follow to avoid car fires is to not park in places close to fire sources. Many people park carelessly without paying attention to their surroundings. If this is done, it can trigger a car fire.

You might park in an area close to a garbage burning site. It is possible that embers from the burning debris fly and hit parts of the car that are prone to catching fire. A still-hot car engine also has a risk of catching fire if sparks occur.

4. Do Not Ignore the Indicator Panel

The indicator panel plays an important role as a sign of problems in the car. For example, when the engine temperature indicator rises, it means there is a problem with your car's engine. If there is a specific problem, you must check it immediately to prevent your beloved car from catching fire.

5. Install a Fire Extinguisher

Make sure you install a fire extinguisher or APAR in the car cabin. This tool serves as an effort to extinguish the car in case of fire. You can install this tool with the help of a reliable technician, and do not forget to learn how to operate it.
