The Sport Utility Vehicle segment, commonly known as SUV, is increasingly popular. Moreover, there are many cool SUVs available at affordable prices. It's no surprise that many people are now switching to SUVs to support their daily mobility.

If you're interested in an SUV, there's nothing wrong with considering the Daihatsu SUV as an option. The most famous Daihatsu SUV is the Daihatsu Terios.

Terios is classified as a small SUV launched as a result of collaboration between two Japanese car manufacturers, Toyota and Daihatsu. This collaboration produced two SUV models, the Toyota Rush and the Daihatsu Terios. When viewed, the appearance of both cars is quite similar. It's no wonder that many refer to them as twins.

Looking at its history, the Daihatsu Terios was first introduced in Indonesia in December 2006. Terios itself means "making dreams come true," which is why Daihatsu developed this vehicle to be a leader in its class.

The birth of the Daihatsu Terios coincided with the end of the Daihatsu Taruna era. So, it can be said that this car is the successor to the Taruna in the Daihatsu model line in the country.

Terios is a compact SUV with a sturdy appearance and an affordable price. At that time, Daihatsu and Toyota also aimed to meet the needs of Indonesian customers who wanted an SUV at an affordable price to compete with the family cars of the masses, Xenia and Avanza.

The Daihatsu Terios seems to be the answer for automotive enthusiasts who need a tough vehicle. This car can be a vehicle that supports daily mobility, accommodates many passengers, and is durable on all terrains.

Daihatsu Terios Design

The design of the Daihatsu Terios adopts the Daihatsu Be-Go model, which was previously released in Japan and has been exported to European countries, the Middle East, South America, and Asia.

The difference can be seen in the body design, which is 14 centimeters longer and has a higher passenger capacity, namely 7 people. Its shape also reflects a compact SUV with a spacious cabin, ideal for driving with family.

Initially, the Daihatsu Terios came with a 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1,500 cc, with a choice of a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic. As a result, this Japanese factory SUV can run at a maximum of 109 Ps/6000 rpm and a torque of 14.4 kgm / 4400 rpm.

Moreover, its fuel consumption is also quite economical thanks to EFI or Electronic Fuel Injection technology. This is one of the advantages of the Daihatsu Terios.

There are three variants of the Daihatsu Terios marketed in Indonesia, namely TX A/T, TX M/T, and TS. The TS type is then classified into Standard and Standard plus Extra.

The TX type is further divided into Elegant, Standard, and Adventure categories, which are available in both manual and automatic transmissions.

New Daihatsu Terios 2010

Successfully bringing changes to the SUV class in the country, Daihatsu further perfected this car with the launch of the New Daihatsu Terios in 2010. The most significant difference can be seen in the design and appearance, which are more stylish and adventurous.

At the front, the front grille and bumper are made sturdier and more aerodynamic. On the sides, new wheels make it trendier. Meanwhile, at the back, the bumper has a revised design and is equipped with brighter reflectors and clear lens rear lights.

Improvements in the interior make it look sportier. Several features have been added to make users more comfortable while driving. For instance, the dashboard now looks more luxurious with an integrated head unit that merges with the center meter cluster, as well as the addition of audio buttons on the steering wheel and Electronic Power Steering (EPS).

Additionally, the driver's seat can be adjusted for position and height according to body posture, along with the application of the 1-touch tumble feature, making access in and out of the third-row passenger seat easier. The improvement in ADM on the suspension also enhances the characteristics of the coil spring and shock absorber, making passengers more comfortable.

At that time, the variants launched were still the same, namely 4 factory standard options, TS M/T, TS A/T, TX M/T, and TX A/T. However, with 6 color options: Midnight Black, Classic Silver, Sand Gold, Royal Red, Icy White, and Noble Grey.

In line with market demands, Daihatsu added safety features starting from pretensioner and force limiter seat belts, dual airbags, headrests, and seat belts for 7 passengers. Double blower AC and cabin air filters were also included.

Specifically, the TX A/T type is equipped with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) that allows the driver to control the vehicle even in sudden braking conditions.

The Terios in 2010 also experienced an addition of capable entertainment facilities. All TX types are equipped with a touch screen integrated 2 DIN Audio with DVD, CD, MP3, USB port GPS, and aux. Meanwhile, the interior and exterior also underwent slight refreshment, making this Terios sportier and tougher.

The refreshment on the exterior of the Daihatsu new Terios also included changes to the front and rear bumper guards, over fenders, and side stone guards. Meanwhile, the highest edition TX has been equipped with a rear spoiler, spare wheel cover, and retractable mirrors.

New Daihatsu Terios 2015 and 2017

Two years later, the Daihatsu Terios underwent significant changes in 2015. The most noticeable parts are its exterior and interior.

During this period, the New Terios was available in manual and automatic variants with five color options: black, white, silver, gray, and red.

The car's lights at that time used LED at the front and rear. Another important feature added was Window Jam Protection, which protects the driver from being pinched by the car door glass.

To prevent the Terios from being stolen, Daihatsu installed an immobilizer, so the car engine cannot start without the original key.

Other security features include Side Impact Beam, a steel bar embedded in the side of the car to protect the driver and passengers from side impacts.

At the end of 2017, the latest generation of Terios was born, which had a completely changed shape without a rear spare tire. This design sparked controversy as it was considered to eliminate the sporty SUV impression. However, in reality, the 2017 Terios looks more luxurious and modern due to changes in the grille and bumper. The rear lights are also slimmer, following contemporary car designs at that time.

Meanwhile, the roof now uses a shark fin antenna, making its appearance even more modern. Previously, Daihatsu still used a regular antenna.

As for its superior features, it has also gone digital and is equipped with safety riding features such as Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and Hill Start Assist (HSA) on the highest variant.

The second-generation Daihatsu Terios is also equipped with a new generation engine, the 2NR-VE 1.500. This engine is known for its fuel efficiency while still providing optimal performance. The second-generation Daihatsu Terios is available in two type options, namely 1.5 X, 1.5 X Deluxe, 1.5 R, and 1.5 R Deluxe.

All New Daihatsu Terios 2020

The first generation Terios is characterized by a spare tire hanging on the rear door. Its design appears sporty and masculine. Entering the second generation, the design has completely changed to a more modern one by moving the spare tire to under the rear trunk.

Compared to its predecessor, the Daihatsu Terios has undergone drastic design changes. Its shape is more aerodynamic, with no more stiff and boxy designs like the old model.

The new front aero kit on the skid plate makes the All New Terios look sturdier, while the chrome design on the fog lamps adds a luxurious touch. The new sold roof rail also complements the exterior appearance in line with current automotive trends. At the back, there is a rear bumper with a silver skid plate that looks sturdier and features a two-tone color scheme.

The trunk opening mechanism has also been changed to open upwards. The car's dimensions have been modified to be 50 mm longer than the previous model, and the ground clearance has increased to 220 mm.

The All New Terios engine can produce a maximum power of 104 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.9 Kg.m at 4,200 rpm. This power is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic, as
