Must Know! Here's How to Easily Reset Your Car Remote

To make it easier to operate a vehicle, manufacturers usually provide a remote control. With this device, users can operate their vehicle simply by pressing the remote button. 

However, what if the remote has issues, such as an alarm that goes off by itself? Let's take a look at how to reset the car remote below. 

1. Ensure the Remote Battery is in Good Condition

Fundamentally, the battery serves as the power source for electronic devices, including the remote of a four-wheeled vehicle. Therefore, ensuring the battery's condition is the most basic and necessary step to take. 

When the battery in the remote or keyless entry weakens, it will automatically disrupt activities.

Some common symptoms experienced when the battery starts to weaken include difficulty opening the door, sudden loss of signal range, and even alarms that sound on their own. 

Therefore, car owners are advised to replace the battery once these symptoms occur. Besides being inconvenient, such a condition can also be very detrimental.

As a car owner, you certainly know that the way to reset the car remote can be seen from the battery condition. To replace the battery, you need to open the cover of the remote by unscrewing its screws. 

Although it seems easy, you need to be cautious when opening the remote. There is a risk that the adhesive or clips of the remote may get damaged.

2. Manually Open the Car Door

An alarm that sounds by itself can create very annoying noise. The only way to stop that sound is to open the door manually. 

Once opened, make sure to close the door properly. This is because the alarm sounding in the car can be caused by a door that is not fully closed.

3. Check the Alarm Indicator

If the alarm is sounding, check the system by looking at the alarm indicator. Usually, the car alarm will continue to sound if the indicator is still lit. 

A lit alarm indicator is a sign that the way to reset the car remote is to ensure all doors are securely closed.

So, when you exit the car, make sure all doors are locked.

4. Insert the Car Key

The last step to address an alarm that sounds by itself is to insert the key into the ignition to start the engine. Then, turn the car key until it shows the ON position. 

Next, press and hold the lock button on the car's keyless entry for five to ten seconds. Do the same as before until the indicator light turns off.

After following these steps, remove the car key and test the remote or keyless entry. Close all car doors using the lock button to ensure whether the remote functions perfectly. 

Then, perform a test to check if the unlock remote button works well as a step to ensure the car remote reset was successful.
