For new four-wheeled vehicle owners, you may be confused about how to use analog and digital voltmeters. To help you, here are the differences between analog and digital voltmeters and how they work.
Analog Voltmeter
To use an analog voltmeter, you must be prepared to read the numbers manually. The calculation results or voltage values will only be indicated by a needle.
Therefore, you must be careful in observing it. The usage itself is very easy, simply turn on the power button and clamp the probe on the object to be measured.
Make sure to place the probe on the terminals with positive and negative voltage, not aligned on the same terminal. If you want to measure volts or amperes, then direct the switch to the Volt unit.
At that moment, the needle will point to the number corresponding to the voltage of the object.
However, if you want to measure electric current, the way to use the analog and digital voltmeter will be different. In the analog type, the pointer reading is the number on the electric current scale line.
The method for measuring resistance is also different, as you are required to set the calibration and adjust the knob selector. Here, if the resistor used has a colorful band, it is used to indicate the amount of resistance.
However, if you cannot find the color bands, then calibrate the selector knob to the 100 position. The next step is to ensure that the pointer needle is at the zero position, then connect the probe.

Digital Voltmeter
The way to use it is the same. You just need to set the unit to Volt, and calibrate the measurement limit to 1000. After that, you can connect the red probe to the positive terminal and the black probe to the negative terminal.
Then, the voltage value will appear on the display screen. That is why using analog and digital voltmeters is not difficult.
It can be said that digital tools are considered easier because you do not need to read from the pointer. This is because, often the analog pointer points to a number that is less consistent. Similar to the analog system, you can also perform calculations in the ampere and volt measurement scales. All you need to do is direct the switch to the desired unit.

There are many switches or options you can do with a digital voltmeter. Including the ability to measure resistance and electric current.
If previously, you had to understand which numbers or sequences to read, this tool can be set according to its use. Such as measuring electric current and resistance.

While for measuring resistance, direct the switch to the symbol “O” or Ohm. Attach the clips, and the result will correspond to the unit.

However, the digital type provides a more detailed, accurate display and easier operation. So you can choose a voltmeter according to your needs.
