10 Komponen Suspensi Depan pada Mobil dan Fungsinya

Driving comfort when passing through potholes and uneven roads can be realized with the help of the front and rear car suspension components. As is known, the car suspension system functions to reduce shocks or vibrations from the car body when passing over uneven road surfaces. Below, several components of the front car suspension system along with their functions will be explained in detail. Here is the complete explanation.

Components of the Front Car Suspension System and Their Functions

There are several components of the front car suspension system along with their functions that you need to understand. Here are the complete components.

1. Spring

The spring is one of the most important components of the car suspension system because the elasticity and flexibility of the car suspension are obtained from the spring. Thus, the spring can move according to the car wheels that receive pressure from the road surface. The springs themselves are divided into three types, namely coil springs, leaf springs, and torsion springs.

Coil springs are usually used in SUV and MPV vehicles because they have a circular design and do not take up space. Thus, coil springs can produce a tendency for soft elasticity. Meanwhile, leaf springs have a design resembling long plates that produce a curved motion, increasing elasticity. This type of spring is usually used in heavy-duty vehicles such as trucks or buses. Torsion springs generate elasticity through twisting.

2. Shock absorber

The shock absorber is a component of the suspension system that functions to dampen the shock from the spring component. Thus, shocks from the road surface only stop at the shock absorber without being transmitted to other components.

3. Stabilizer bar

The stabilizer bar component functions to balance the left and right wheels of the car with the car body so that the car does not roll over when turning.

4. Lower arm

The lower arm serves as a connector between the car wheel and the body. This component has a connecting hinge so that it does not directly contact the body and the car wheel.

5. Upper arm

The upper arm serves as a connector between the car frame and the knuckle arm.

6. Knuckle arm

The knuckle arm is a component of the front suspension system that serves as a housing or container for other car suspension components. Starting from the lower arm, shock breaker, tie rod to the wheel bearing.

7. Ball joint

The ball joint serves as a connector between the lower arm and the car wheel. This component can rotate in all directions or 360 degrees. Thus, the front wheels of the car can move in all directions.

8. Suspension bumper

The suspension bumper functions to protect the suspension components from easily getting damaged and worn out due to vibrations and shocks from the spring components. To function properly, the suspension bumper is made from super elastic rubber material.

9. Strut bar

The strut bar, also known as the suspension arm, serves to connect the wheels with the car chassis. The strut bar has two ball joints attached at each end of the strut bar. Thus, the car wheels can turn or move vertically.

10. Supported shock

The supported shock functions as a cushion for the shock absorber so that the shock absorber does not move around and remains in its position.

Thus, here are some components of the front car suspension system that you need to know. Considering that these components play an important role in enhancing driving comfort and safety, it is appropriate for you as a car owner to perform routine and periodic maintenance of the suspension system components at Daihatsu workshops.
