4 Ways to Properly Touch Up Peeling Car Paint

1. Use White Compound

You can utilize white compound to cover up the peeling paint layer if the peeling area is still at a light level. You can find compound at various nearby stores or car salons. 

When applying this compound, make sure that the cloth you use has a soft texture.

Because a rough cloth surface will make the compound application uneven and can also cause new scratches. After the compound is applied, let it sit for a while until the compound layer can blend with the other parts. 

Then wipe the surface with a clean, soft cloth until the scratches gradually disappear.

2. Use Paint with the Same Color

The way to cover up peeling car paint should ideally use paint that is in the same color tone if the surface of the car is peeling above a light level. Because the use of compound will not help much if your car is peeling to the point where the putty is visible. 

For example, if your car is red, then use red paint as well. It is advisable to prepare a brush to apply the paint on the car body surface. Choose a brush with soft bristles, then apply and let it sit for a moment until it dries. 

After it dries, reapply the area with yellow compound. Next, wipe the car surface until its color matches the other surface areas.

3. Clean Around the Peeling Area

When applying compound or paint to the body, as a way to cover up peeling car paint, you must first clean the car surface. 

Because a dirty surface can cause the paint to chip and the application to be imperfect. You can use warm water and soap to clean it.

4. Use Touch Pen and Spray Type

You can use touch pen and spray type to address the issue of peeling paint on the car body. The touch pen is also claimed to be able to remove rust or silicone that sticks to the car paint.

However, when applying touch pen or spray type, you need to be careful and do it slowly. Because if it's your first time doing it, usually the result won't be good, especially if you rush. 

Although it takes longer, using these two materials can be a good way to cover up peeling car paint. Peeling car paint does decrease the appearance of the vehicle, so you need to address it promptly. 

However, it is important to remember that some paint products may require more time to dry completely. So it is advisable not to use the car for driving immediately after applying the paint.
