7 Important Parts of the Car to Check Before Going Home

Eid is just around the corner, which means the homecoming season is about to greet us. The homecoming journey is always an unforgettable moment, whether it's due to the unbearable traffic or the joy created from the fun of going home. Especially for you who plan to go home using a private car, preparations must have been made well in advance. This preparation includes a thorough inspection of the car's engine.
Important Parts to Check Before Going Home
There are at least 7 important parts of a car that we need to pay attention to for a safe and comfortable homecoming:
1. Check the Overall Engine
If your car is capable enough for long distances during the homecoming, just perform a standard tune-up of the engine. Ask the workshop mechanic to clean the carburetor, adjust the valves, spark plugs, and change the oil. But if you want to increase the engine power, just ask the mechanic to adjust the carburetor. Simply replace the nozzle, adjust the valves, and main jet.
The fuel line to the combustion chamber should also be checked, especially if the piston ring shows signs of wear so it can be replaced immediately. Additionally, don't forget to replace the spark plugs for better ignition.
2. Radiator Water
Check the condition of the water in the car's radiator. If necessary, drain the radiator and replace it with fresh water, and if needed, add radiator coolant for optimal performance.
3. Brakes and Suspension
The role of the suspension in supporting the car during long journeys is vital. Therefore, check the suspension components, starting from the rims, chain and sprocket, tires, to wheel bearings. Brake pads usually do not always need to be replaced with new ones. Just clean them from dirt and ensure their thickness is still usable. However, if they feel uncomfortable, it's better to replace them with new ones.
4. Tires
Tires that are no longer in good condition will experience a decrease in grip on the road. Such tire conditions are very dangerous, especially when driving in the rain. It's quite easy to check the condition of a tire; just look for cracks on the tire surface. These cracks are caused by the rubber surface becoming worn with the tire compound starting to diminish. If such tires are forced to run, they are at risk of blowing out. Immediately buy new tires if their condition is like this.
5. Lights and Signals
Although they seem trivial, the headlights and turn signals are very important on the road. Recheck the electrical system, especially the cable connections and the condition of the wires, as well as the bulbs. Another signaling device that should also be checked is the horn. That sound signal is very necessary when you pass through quiet or winding roads.
6. Wipers
Also check the water for the wipers to ensure they don't malfunction when it rains. If the wiper rubber is worn out, don't hesitate to replace it. When it rains, a good wiper will make your view clearer while driving the car.
7. Car Completeness
If the car's condition is okay, now it's time to check the car's completeness. Make sure the spare keys and tools for changing tires are complete in the car's trunk. Additionally, also bring a first aid kit and a warning triangle. Finally, check the validity of your vehicle registration and driver's license, just in case they need to be renewed. If everything is in order, now just prepare your physical condition for the long and tiring journey. Happy homecoming.
