7 Things to Consider When Driving for Safety and Comfort

Driving safety is very important, especially now that there are more and more accidents happening lately, whether involving four-wheeled or two-wheeled vehicles.
Many factors contribute to accidents, ranging from drowsiness, driving under the influence, to negligence while driving. Public awareness and understanding of driving safety are still very minimal.
To keep you safe and comfortable while driving, let's follow the tips below!
But what if you don't have money or are trying to save? You surely don't want to just stay at home during the weekend. Don't worry, you can still do productive things at home. In fact, these productive activities could become your ideas for the future. So, try doing the following productive things.
1. Vehicle Performance
Check your vehicle's performance before embarking on a long journey. Ensure that the engine, brakes, and lights are functioning properly.
Before you leave, it's a good idea to check the car's oil, clutch, radiator water, cables, and battery condition. If necessary, check your vehicle's condition at a workshop for preparation before the trip.
Vehicles that are rarely serviced can experience a decline in performance! So, don't be lazy to service your vehicle, okay?
2. Check Tire Pressure
Check tire pressure regularly. Make sure that the PSI is appropriate. Tire pressure generally differs by 2-3 psi between the front and rear tires. Proper tire pressure can improve fuel efficiency by about 1-3%.
3. Always Use Seatbelts
Before you start driving, make sure to wear your seatbelt! Seatbelts are designed to protect the driver and passengers from impact in the event of an accident.
In addition, the Traffic and Road Law (UULAJR) Article 289 and Article 106 paragraph 6 require drivers to use seatbelts while driving. Rather than getting fined, it's better to ensure you're wearing your seatbelt.
4. Fuel
Regularly check your vehicle's fuel. Especially if you are about to enter a toll road.
Gas stations on toll roads are not very plentiful. You wouldn't want your car to break down in the middle of the toll road, right?
5. Capacity & Passenger Safety
It's best not to carry passengers exceeding your car's capacity. Your journey could be disrupted because not everyone can sit comfortably. If you're carrying toddlers, it's advisable to use a car seat or booster seat to ensure the child remains comfortable during the trip.
6. Save Emergency Numbers
You should also save emergency numbers for unexpected situations such as fires, traffic accidents, serious crimes, or natural disasters; these numbers will be useful for you.
Here is a list of numbers you should note in your phone:
1. Police Phone Number for reporting accidents and crimes: 110
2. Fire Department Phone Number: 113 or 1131
3. Ambulance Phone Number: 118 and 119
4. SAR Agency Phone Number: 115
5. Natural Disaster Post Phone Number: 129
6. Electricity Disruption Phone Number: 123 or 021-123
7. General Emergency Number if cellular networks are limited: 112
7. Always Obey Traffic Signs
Traffic accidents are often caused by driver negligence. Therefore, if you feel tired and drowsy, make sure to take a break. Forcing yourself to drive while feeling fatigued and sleepy can have fatal consequences.
Another cause of traffic accidents is hasty behavior. Come on, admit it, who often speeds when in a hurry?
Many people drive or ride their vehicles recklessly, hoping to reach their destination quickly. This is certainly very risky for you.
So, always obey traffic signs to keep your journey safe, because safety is the main thing. Remember, your family is waiting at home!
