In the car's turn signal circuit, there are several interconnected components that work together to turn on the lights. This way, the lights can illuminate and signal a turn. This can help avoid the risk of accidents such as collisions. Below are some components found in the turn signal circuit and how they work. Here is the complete explanation.

Components of the Car Turn Signal Circuit

Here are some components of the car turn signal circuit that you need to know.

1. Battery

The battery is the most essential component of the car's turn signal circuit. This is because the battery can be considered a power source due to its function of supplying electrical current. Thus, the car's electrical system can operate properly, including the turn signals.

2. Switch

This component functions as an activator of the electrical system so that the turn signals can be activated to the right or left according to the direction you need. This component is located around the car's steering wheel and resembles a lever. This component also serves to turn on the headlights.

3. Fuse

This component serves to protect the car's electrical system from short circuits. Inside the fuse, there is a thin wire. This wire will eventually break the electrical current that is too large or exceeds the wire's current capacity. Thus, the car's electrical system is safe and does not catch fire.

4. Relay

The relay component serves to bridge the electrical current from the battery to the turn signals through the contacts. Inside the contacts, there is a solenoid coil that is directly connected to the switch to flow the electrical current.

5. Flasher

This component is divided into two types: electronic flasher and bimetal. Both types of components function to create a blinking effect when the turn signal is activated. For the electronic type, it uses a flip-flop circuit to produce an on-off blinking effect periodically.

Meanwhile, for the bimetal type, to generate the blinking effect, the flasher utilizes heat that induces the plate.

6. Light Bulb

This component serves as a place to convert electrical energy into light energy. Thus, when the turn signal is activated, a yellow light will emit from the light bulb as a sign that the car is about to turn.

7. Wiring

Wiring is a series of processes for connecting wires to all electrical components of the car. With wiring, the wires in the car's electrical system appear neat. In addition, wiring also serves to connect the electrical current from the battery to all components of the turn signal circuit.

How Turn Signals Work

Turn signals have their own way of working. When you turn on the car's turn signal, the battery will deliver electrical current to the ignition switch. After that, the electrical current will continue to the turn signal fuse and then to terminal B1.

The electrical current from B1 is then forwarded to the F2 flasher to terminal F1. If you turn on the turn signal switch to the right, the electrical current from terminal F1 will be sent to the TR, causing the right turn signal, both front and rear, to light up and blink simultaneously. Not only does the right turn signal light up, but the dashboard indicator light will also illuminate as a sign that the turn signal is functioning.

However, if you slide the turn signal switch to the left, the left turn signal of the car, both rear and front, will light up. When you want to turn on the turn signal, make sure your car key is in the ON position so that the turn signal can illuminate.

Now you know the components of the turn signal circuit and how they work in a car. Make sure to perform regular maintenance on your car at the official Daihatsu workshop so that the turn signals can function properly, ensuring your driving comfort and safety.
