8 Penyebab AC Mobil Tidak Dingin dan Hanya Keluar Angin Saja

The problem of a car's air conditioning not being cold and only blowing air is often a concerning issue. As is known, car air conditioning plays an important role in enhancing comfort while driving, especially in traffic jams and dry seasons.

The main function of car air conditioning is not just to provide cool air, but also to create a comfortable and refreshing atmosphere. By keeping the car cabin cool and comfortable, the AC plays a vital role as a temperature balancer.

However, when the car AC does not function as it should, questions arise: why does this happen? What are the causes, and how can it be resolved? To get complete answers regarding this issue, here is information about the causes of a car's AC not being cold and how to fix it.

1. AC Freon is Empty

If the AC does not feel cold, a possible cause is that the AC freon is empty. AC freon functions as a heat absorber in the cabin and as a cooling component of the AC.

If the freon leaks or runs out, the AC will blow air, but the temperature produced will not be cold.

Therefore, the solution is to replace the car's AC freon and always perform regular maintenance on the car's AC freon.

2. Blockage in the Condenser

The cause of the car's AC not being cold and only blowing air is usually due to a blockage in the condenser. A condenser blocked by dust or dirt can hinder the cold temperature produced by the freon.

Essentially, the function of the condenser is to convert freon gas back into liquid to maximize AC performance. Therefore, you need to clean the AC condenser that has blockage regularly.

3. Compressor Damage

If the AC condenser looks clean, but the AC feels less cold, you need to check the compressor. Perhaps this part has worn out or is damaged. If you find that the sight glass has turned black, it indicates that the expansion valve or receiver dryer is dirty and clogged. It can be confirmed that the AC compressor is damaged.

4. Dirty AC Filter

A dirty and clogged car AC filter causes the AC to only blow air without cooling the temperature. This blockage affects the performance of the AC freon filtration to be less optimal. Therefore, we need to replace the car's AC filter and clean it regularly.

5. Extra Fan Not Spinning

The extra fan serves as an additional cooler in the form of a fan outside the AC. If the extra fan is off, it can affect the cooling process in the condenser (condensation). This obstruction of condensation causes the temperature in the cabin to not decrease, making the cabin temperature hot.

6. Excessive Compressor Oil Filling

Excessive filling of compressor oil impacts the increase in AC freon pressure. This causes the compressor to become too hot and hinders condensation.

This condition will make the hot temperature in the car cabin unable to decrease, eventually making the cabin temperature hot. This can disrupt your comfort due to overheating.

7. Dirty Evaporator

A dirty evaporator also causes the AC to not be cold. This happens because dust and dirt accumulate too much, obstructing the air circulation process.

8. Broken AC Fan Belt

The performance of the AC compressor is influenced by the fan belt that functions as the engine's driver. If the fan belt breaks, the compressor's performance will be less than optimal, stopping the circulation of freon. As a result, the AC will only blow air without cooling the car cabin.

9. Broken AC Thermostat

A broken thermostat can lead to improper temperature regulation in the car's AC system. If the thermostat does not function properly, the temperature in the cabin may not be optimally controlled, causing discomfort while driving. The solution is to replace the broken thermostat with a new one.

10. Problematic Freon Pressure Sensor

A problematic freon pressure sensor can be the cause of the car's AC not functioning properly. If this sensor does not provide accurate freon pressure information, the AC system may not be able to regulate the temperature well. Checking and replacing the damaged freon pressure sensor can help restore AC performance.

11. Broken or Damaged Cables or Connectors

Broken cables or damaged connectors in the car's AC system can disrupt the electrical flow needed to operate the AC components. Ensure all cables and connectors are properly connected, and replace any that are damaged if necessary.

12. Problematic Car Electrical System

Issues in the overall car electrical system can also affect AC performance. Check the electrical system, including fuses and relays related to the car's AC. Replace or repair damaged components to ensure optimal electrical flow.

How to Properly Maintain Car AC?

To keep the AC durable, regular maintenance is needed to maintain its function in providing cool air inside the car cabin.

1. Clean the Car Cabin Regularly

Regularly cleaning the car cabin can prevent dust and dirt that can disrupt AC performance. A clean cabin ensures that the air produced by the AC remains healthy and cool.

2. Avoid Smoking Inside the Car

Smoke trapped inside the car not only creates an unpleasant aroma but also has the potential to damage the AC circulation system. Cigarette smoke can stick to the cabin filter, shortening its lifespan and increasing the risk of damage to the AC.

3. Do Not Open Car Windows While AC is On

Avoid opening car windows while the AC is active, except in emergencies. This helps prevent outside air from entering the car and ensures the AC operates efficiently without extra load.

4. Regularly Replace Compressor Oil

AC compressor oil needs to be replaced regularly, at least once a year or every 20,000 km the car travels. This helps maintain the compressor's performance in creating cold air.

5. Check and Replace Cabin Filter Regularly

Regularly checking and replacing the cabin filter can ensure that the air entering the cabin is clean and the AC's cold temperature remains optimal.

6. Clean the AC Evaporator and Condenser

Regularly cleaning the evaporator and condenser helps maintain AC performance by preventing dirt buildup. Both components are essential for absorbing heat and producing cold air.

7. Adjust AC Temperature Wisely

Keeping the AC temperature at an ideal level, such as 25 degrees Celsius, helps prevent excessive load on the compressor. A consistent temperature provides coolness inside the car without forcing the engine to work too hard.

By following these maintenance steps, you can ensure that your car's AC remains durable and functions optimally.

After you know the 12 causes of a car's AC not being cold and only blowing air as mentioned above, it is advisable to also regularly clean the
