Friends, there are two types of machine transmissions in cars, namely manual and automatic transmissions. These types of transmissions are often referred to as manual cars and automatic or matic. Manual cars use a clutch as a connection for the engine power to the transmission system. Without a clutch, a car cannot manage or change gears. It turns out that clutches can also be categorized based on their components and how they work. Clutches are classified into centrifugal clutches, mechanical clutches, and hydraulic clutches. So, what is a hydraulic clutch? Read on!

Components of Hydraulic Clutch

As the name suggests, a hydraulic clutch is a clutch that operates with a hydraulic system. This clutch relies on oil fluid. The oil is placed in a rotating container so that it can be distributed. Usually, hydraulic clutches are used by matic cars. Its three main components are the pump impeller which functions as a hydraulic power generation pump, located within the fluid. Then, the turbine runner as the receiver of power from the hydraulic fluid, and the stator as the flow regulator to ensure there is no excessive or insufficient flow. The stator ensures that the torque works with precision.

Other components found in hydraulic clutches include the hydraulic clutch pedal, master cylinder, and clutch cylinder. The hydraulic clutch pedal serves to press the oil in the master cylinder so that it can be transmitted to the clutch cylinder. The oil pressure will push the release lever and the pressure plate that presses the diaphragm spring.

Meanwhile, the master cylinder is the part that holds the hydraulic oil. The other part, the clutch cylinder is responsible for expelling air from the hydraulic system. Air in the hydraulic system can disrupt the clutch's operation because when pressure is applied, it will press the air instead of the oil. The clutch cylinder also contains a boot or elastic cover rubber. This rubber serves to prevent dirt from entering the clutch cylinder. This rubber plays an important role, friends. Of course, dirt that enters can disrupt the operation and even cause damage to the clutch.

Advantages of Hydraulic Clutch

Now, there are several advantages of hydraulic clutches that you should know. Perhaps, after reading this, you might be interested in trying a car with a hydraulic clutch.

First

Hydraulic clutches distribute engine power widely, with complete placement and distribution. Therefore, the power generated by hydraulic clutches is more flexible according to the placement of transmission power.

Second

Hydraulic clutches have components that are under high pressure and speed. By changing the area ratio on the cylinder cross-section, hydraulic clutches can lift or move heavy loads with a small force.

Third

The use of oil in hydraulic clutches can reduce friction between components. As a medium for transferring force, oil serves to lubricate and cover the components within the hydraulic clutch.

Fourth

Hydraulic clutches can regulate loads. Through the relief valve component, excess loads will be pumped to the tank.

Fifth

When the pump cannot lift due to excessive load, the hydraulic clutch will stop the load by itself while locking that load.

Sixth

Hydraulic clutches are very easy to install in cars.

Although hydraulic clutches have many advantages, they still have some disadvantages. Hydraulic clutches are sold at a high price due to the use of fluid or oil. Moreover, when a leak occurs, the clutch system can become dirty and disrupt its performance.

Hydraulic clutches are one of the most widely used clutches in modern cars. It is clear that cars with automatic transmission systems or automatic are more popular because they can reduce the risk of foot fatigue. It is good for friends to know about hydraulic clutches, their components, how they work, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Friends also need to know how to maintain the clutch. You need to perform regular checks on the clutch system. This is to prevent leaks. If you don't know how to check it, just take it to your favorite workshop. Let the experts handle it for your car.

Now, after reading the explanation above, you are now familiar with hydraulic clutches. Although hydraulic clutches are sold at a high price, they have good quality. So, don't forget to regularly check your clutch!
