Let's Get to Know the Rules for Using DRL Lights!

Currently, there is a lot of discussion about the prohibition of using strobe and rotator light accessories. So, what about the use of DRL lights? Are they prohibited as well?
Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are actually not a new thing in Indonesia. In recent years, car manufacturers have been installing DRL lights on every car they produce.
Especially the latest car models, on average, already use DRL light models. Its function, besides beautifying the appearance, is also as a driving safety feature. For example, when passing through dark roads or when going through tunnels, you don't have to bother turning on the lights.
As time goes by, even older cars are starting to install DRL lights that can be found at car accessory dealers.
However, looking at Government Regulation No. 55 of 2012 article 23 regarding the lighting system and light reflector devices that can be installed on vehicles, it indeed does not regulate the installation of DRL lights within it.
Here are 11 provisions regarding lights that can be used on vehicles according to that article:
- Low beam headlights in white or light yellow.
- High beam headlights in white or light yellow.
- Turn signal lights in amber with a flashing light.
- Brake lights in red.
- Front lights in white or light yellow.
- Rear lights in red.
- Reverse lights in white or light yellow except for motorcycles.
- Vehicle registration number illumination lights at the rear of the vehicle in white.
- Hazard warning signal lights in amber with a flashing light.
- Motor vehicle dimension limit signs in white or light yellow for vehicles wider than 2,100 (two thousand one hundred) millimeters at the front and in red at the rear.
- Red reflectors placed on the left and right sides at the rear of the motor vehicle.
So, friends, you can have an answer when stopped by the police. Because for now, there is no prohibition on the use of DRL lights and there are many benefits from using those lights.
