How Platinum Works

1. When platinum is open
When the platinum is in an open condition and electrical current is flowing, the distributor cam rotates and presses the ebonite heel so that the platinum opens and the ground current from the primary coil winding is interrupted.
The process of interrupting the current is relatively short, resulting in an electrical induction of 20,000 volts and causing a spark at the spark plug.
2. When platinum closes
When the car engine is running, the car platinum will close so that the distributor cam rotates and the ebonite part is not pressed.
Meanwhile, the ground will receive electrical current from the primary coil winding, causing the primary coil winding to become a magnetic field.
Make sure you adjust the platinum first while the platinum is still clean and in good condition, check for any bumps or not. If there are bumps, replace it with a new one for a perfect spark.
