Traffic congestion remains a nightmare in society that has not been resolved well to this day. This occurs due to the impact of motor vehicle purchases that continue to increase every year. The high number of motor vehicles often causes long traffic jams, especially during rush hour. Therefore, to reduce this congestion, an odd-even system is implemented. What is the odd-even system? To understand it, consider the following review.
What is the Odd-Even System?
The odd-even system is a system used by the SATLANTAS to reduce the high rate of congestion. This system is actually not new and has been implemented since 2016 in Jakarta.
As is known, Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia, where many migrants seek their fortune here. The implementation of the odd-even system continues to evolve and undergo changes over time.
However, the purpose of the expansion of the odd-even system remains the same, to reduce massive congestion in the capital city. The mechanism of the odd-even system works based on the calendar dates in Indonesia. For example, when you drive on January 3, 2024, the vehicles that can pass the odd-even rule are those with odd-numbered plates.
On January 4, 2024, the vehicles that can pass the rule are those with even-numbered plates. Here are the odd-even rules that will be enforced in 2024.
So it can be concluded that vehicles with odd-numbered plates can only pass the roads with the odd-even rule on odd dates. Odd-numbered vehicles should look for alternative routes on even dates to avoid penalties.
