Cost of Late Car Tax Payment Fine for 1 Month and How to Calculate It

When buying a car, there are certainly many costs that need to be paid such as service fees and vehicle tax fees. Car tax itself is a mandatory payment. If the tax is not paid on time, a penalty in the form of a fine will be imposed.

So how much do you have to pay if you are late in paying the car tax for 1 month? Usually, cars that are late in paying tax for 1 month are subject to a fine of 25% of the PKB (Motor Vehicle Tax). If you are still confused, then you need to pay attention to how to calculate the car tax fine as follows.

Before doing the calculation, it is best to memorize the formula for calculating late car tax fines as follows.

Formula:

PKB x 25% x number of months late : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.

Case Study Example:

You have a Daihatsu car with the type Terios 1.5 R AT from 2023 with a PKB tax of Rp4,532,000. If you are late in paying the car tax for 1 month, then you need to pay a fine of the following amount.

Given:

PKB: Rp4,532,000

SWDKLLJ: Rp100,000

Solution:

Formula: PKB x 25% x (late payment of tax 1 month) : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.

Details: Rp4,532,000 x 25% x 1 : 12 + Rp100,000 = Rp194,416.

So, the fine you need to pay if you are late in paying the car tax for 1 month is Rp194,416.

If the car tax is delayed for 2, 3, 6 months or 1 year. You just need to change the formula according to how long you are late in paying the tax.

Example:

1. Late payment fine for 2 months

Formula: PKB x 25% x 2 months : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.

2. Late payment fine for 3 months

Formula: PKB x 25% x 3 months : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.

3. Late payment fine for 6 months

Formula: PKB x 25% x 6 months : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.

4. Late payment fine for 1 year

Formula: PKB x 25% x 12 months : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.

5. Late payment fine for 2 years

Formula: PKB x 25% x 24 months : 12 months + SWDKLLJ fine.
