Biaya Service Shockbreaker Mobil dan Cara Merawatnya

Car shock absorber service is something that needs to be done regularly by all car owners. This is because the shock absorber is a component that functions to absorb vibrations when the car passes over uneven or damaged roads, controlling the movement of the wheels to keep the car stable. It prevents body roll and enhances safety and comfort while driving.

So how much does it cost to service the shock absorber? And how to maintain the shock absorber so it doesn't get damaged easily? For more details, please pay attention to the following review.

Car Shock Absorber Service Costs

The cost of car shock absorber service usually depends on the type of damage it has. If the shock absorber damage is caused by oil leakage, then the car owner must replace the seal and oil of the shock absorber. The cost of replacing the shock absorber seal is quite cheap, ranging from Rp50,000 to Rp100,000 depending on the type and classification of the car.

Meanwhile, the cost of replacing the shock absorber oil is priced at around Rp50,000 to Rp100,000. So the total accumulated cost for servicing shock absorber damage caused by oil leakage is around Rp100,000 to Rp200,000.

However, if the condition of the car's shock absorber can no longer dampen vibrations properly or is completely damaged, it will incur a significant cost.

For Japanese-made cars, replacing components costs around Rp1,500,000 to Rp2,000,000. Meanwhile, for European-made cars, replacing the shock absorber is priced at around Rp3,000,000 to Rp4,000,000.

How to Maintain Car Shock Absorbers So They Don't Get Damaged Easily

Considering the cost of shock absorber service is quite high, as a car owner, you must know how to properly maintain the car's shock absorbers so they don't get damaged easily. Here are the complete ways to do so.

1. Understand the signs of damage to the car's shock absorbers

To keep your car's shock absorbers in good condition, you must know the signs of damage to the car's shock absorbers. This is important to prevent more severe damage to the shock absorbers. Here are the signs of damage to the shock absorbers that you need to know.

  • Oil leaking from the shock absorber tube seal.
  • The car's roar becomes rough when passing over uneven road surfaces.
  • Noisy sounds appear in the rear suspension of the car.
  • The car leans to one side or appears tilted.
  • Uneven tire wear occurs.
  • Decreased brake performance.

2. Check the condition of the shock absorbers regularly

After you understand the signs and symptoms of shock absorber damage, the next step is to check the condition of the car's shock absorbers regularly. Ensure that the condition of your car's shock absorbers is clean and free from dirt. Because dirt such as dust and fine sand can potentially damage or scratch the shock absorber shaft.

Especially when the rainy season arrives, that dirt can potentially cause rust and corrosion on the shock mount bolts and bushing parts. In addition to checking the cleanliness of the shock absorbers, you also need to check the seal part to ensure there are no gaps so that dirt does not easily enter the walls of the car's shock absorber. Also, make sure the seal does not have any leaks.

3. Limit the load

To prevent the car's shock absorbers from getting damaged easily, you also need to limit the car's load. Make sure the load does not exceed the car's weight capacity. This is necessary to avoid damaging the suspension and chassis components of the car.

4. Immediately service if signs of damage appear

If the car shows signs of shock absorber damage as explained earlier, immediately take your car to the official Daihatsu workshop for servicing. This is necessary to prevent damage to other components.
