How to Overcome a Clogged Toilet Independently, Easy and Practical!
When the toilet is clogged, the first option we will take is to call a plumber. However, dealing with a clogged toilet can actually be done independently.
In this article, we will tell you several ways to handle a clogged toilet on your own. These methods are:
Use Hot Water and Dish Soap
The first method you can do is to use hot water and dish soap. To do this, you need to prepare a lot of hot water, 1 cup of liquid dish soap, and a towel.
After that, place the towel on the floor near the toilet. This is to prevent any water spills from reaching the floor. Once done, you can pour one cup of liquid dish soap into the toilet.
Let it sit until the soap settles. After that, flush with hot water. Make sure the hot water does not overflow from the toilet. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then flush with cold water. If you are using a sitting toilet, you can directly flush it.
Use a Wire Hanger
The next method you can use is a wire hanger. This method is very suitable for clogged toilets where the pipes are blocked by solid objects.
To do this, you need to cut the wire hanger first. After that, straighten it out and wrap the sharp end with a piece of cloth.
Once done, insert the end into the toilet pipe. Insert it until the object in the toilet pipe goes into the septic tank. If this method works, the water around the toilet will recede. If successful, immediately flush or press the flush on the toilet.
Use a Used Plastic Bottle
In addition to a wire hanger, a used plastic bottle is another item you can use. Primarily, to deal with a clogged toilet. To use it, you need to cut the mouth of the bottle about 10 cm long.
Insert the cut end of the bottle into the toilet hole. Once done, press the end of the bottle until the object in the toilet pipe goes into the septic tank. After that, you can flush the toilet or press the flush on the toilet.
Using Food Wrap
If you do not have a used plastic bottle, you can also use plastic wrap. This item is only suitable for dealing with clogs in sitting toilets.
To use it, you just need to stick it on top of the toilet seat. After that, repeatedly press the flush on the toilet. Do this until the plastic expands. This method can push back the air in the toilet, allowing the object that is clogging the toilet to go into the septic tank.
Using Salt
The last method you can do is to use salt. The salt used can be anything, whether rock salt or regular table salt.
If you want to use regular table salt, you should mix it first with baking soda. Also, make sure the table salt has a coarse texture.
To do this, you need to ensure that the water around the toilet hole is not too much. Only then can you add 500 grams of salt into it.
Once done, add one liter of hot water, then let it sit for 8 hours. Or, until the toilet is no longer clogged. Flush the toilet with water so that any remaining objects in the toilet pipe can be pushed down to the septic tank.
