Latest STNK Data Deletion Information 2024
The deletion of STNK data is a regulation established by Korlantas Polri regarding the ineligibility of a vehicle to operate on the road. This regulation is stated in Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning LLAJ (Traffic and Road Transportation) Article 74 and the Chief of Police Regulation No. 5 of 2012 Article 110 concerning the Registration and Identification of Motor Vehicles.
For motor vehicle owners whose STNK validity has expired and still have STNK tax arrears for two years, the data regarding the vehicle's identity will be permanently deleted, thus revoking the vehicle's legality to operate on the road. This means that the vehicle used is considered a ghost or illegal vehicle. If the vehicle is still used on the road, it will be confiscated by the police and the driver will be subject to penalties in the form of fines or imprisonment.
However, before the STNK data is deleted, the police will send a warning letter three times to the vehicle tax defaulter to immediately settle the tax arrears. The first warning usually advises the tax defaulter to settle the tax within five months. If ignored, a second warning will be given in the form of a vehicle registration block for one month. If ignored again, a third warning will be issued in the form of the deletion of the vehicle's master data for one year.
This regulation is in accordance with the Police Regulation No. 7 of 2021 Article 85. However, if these warnings are ignored, the vehicle data will be permanently deleted and cannot be restored. In addition, the deletion of STNK data can also be done by the vehicle owner for reasons such as the vehicle being damaged, destroyed in an accident, sold, or other reasons.
