A SIM is a legal permit to drive on public roads. In Indonesia, a SIM is valid for five years and must be renewed. If the SIM owner does not renew before the expiration date, the SIM is declared expired, and a new SIM must be created. To create a new SIM, you need to take a driving test, either written or practical. Many people find this process very time-consuming.

To address this issue, the Korlantas Polri created its own online SIM extension application called the Digital Korlantas Polri Application (Sinar). This application was first launched two years ago, specifically in April 2021 on the Playstore. Until now, this application is continuously developed and updated by Korlantas Polri for the comfort and convenience of its users.

How to Extend SIM Online via the Digital Korlantas Application

When you want to extend your SIM online through the Digital Korlantas Application, there are several steps you need to know. Here are the details.

1. Download the application first

First, you need to download the “Digital Korlantas Polri” application through the Playstore on your phone. After downloading, install the application.

2. Register the application

After the application is installed, you need to register by entering your personal data as requested by the application. This includes your full name, active phone number, NIK number, and email address. Make sure the email you register for is active, as the application verification process will be sent via email.

3. Prepare the SIM extension documents

Once the registration process is approved, you need to prepare and complete several documents required for the online SIM extension. Here are the complete documents.

Photo or Scan of E-KTP
Photo or Scan of the old valid SIM
Photo or Scan of your signature on white HVS paper
Passport photo with a blue background, photo resolution 480x640 pixels. Without glasses, and facing forward. For men, wearing a cap or hat is not allowed. For women, wearing a blue hijab is not allowed.

After the required documents above are complete, select the “Extend SIM” service. Next, enter your old valid SIM number and the required documents in the fields provided by the application.

4. Take the psychological test

After you upload the required documents, you need to take a psychological test. It’s easy, just open the ePPsi application or the link provided in the Digital Korlantas Polri application. The cost for the psychological test is IDR 37,500. Payment can be made via e-wallet or ATM transfer.

5. Take the health test

After passing the psychological test, the next step is to take a health test. For the health test, you can click the health check link in the Digital Korlantas Polri application or visit the erikkes.id site. Fill out the health check form completely. Don’t forget to select the nearest health facility to your residence. Then take the test; if you pass, your data will automatically be registered in e-rikkes.

6. Select the National Precision SIM or SINAR menu

Next, select the SINAR menu, then choose the type of SIM you want to extend. Whether it’s SIM A or SIM C. Don’t forget to select the nearest Satpas location to your residence. After that, enter your bank account number in the refund column. If your SIM extension application is rejected, the extension fee will automatically be refunded to your account number. Then, re-enter your address.

7. Make the payment

The final step is to make the payment for the SIM issuance, shipping costs, and services through the BNI Virtual Account. After that, you just need to wait for your SIM to be delivered. Once you receive your SIM, don’t forget to confirm for the digital verification process.
