Duties of Samsat

In terms of its meaning, Samsat has an important duty to expedite and simplify services for the benefit of the public.

In Indonesia, Samsat is managed by three agencies: the Traffic Directorate of the Regional Police (Ditlantas Polda), PT Jasa Raharja (Persero), and the Provincial or Regional Revenue Service. Each of these agencies has its own role, such as Ditlantas Polda, which is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Vehicle Registration Unit (Regident Ranmor), the Provincial or Regional Revenue Service, which manages motor vehicle taxes, and PT Jasa Raharja, which manages contributions or insurance funds.

Functions of Samsat

For motor vehicle riders, Samsat has very important functions. The complete functions are as follows.

1. Registration and payment of vehicle taxes

First, Samsat functions as a place to register and pay annual taxes. As is known, every vehicle owner is required to register the vehicle that will be used on the road as a form of legality. And every vehicle owner is required to pay vehicle tax every year. Through Samsat, the registration and payment of vehicle taxes can be monitored well.

2. Issuance of STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate)

The Samsat will check the tax status of each registered motor vehicle to see if the tax has been paid on time or not. If the tax is not paid by the specified deadline, the Samsat will impose a fine on the vehicle owner. Even if the tax arrears are significant, the Samsat has the right to block the vehicle.
