Currently, the process of managing vehicle mutation can be done online. Of course, the method is easier, faster, and more practical.

Vehicle mutation is the process of transferring the registration and identification of a vehicle from the original area to another area, whether within the same police jurisdiction or between jurisdictions.

Managing vehicle documents when moving residence is one of the very important things to do. This is because it facilitates you when making vehicle tax payments or managing the STNK. 

Not only that, the online vehicle mutation process also requires you to replace the latest BPKB and STNK. So, how do you do it? Follow the procedures below until completion, okay!

Requirements for Online Vehicle Mutation

Can vehicle mutation be done online? Yes, of course. However, for the vehicle mutation process, especially for cars, it can be done at the Samsat Office in both the new and old areas, by bringing several required documents. Here are some of the required documents for vehicle mutation:

• Original and photocopy of KTP (Identity Card) (2 copies)
• Original and photocopy of BPKB (Motor Vehicle Ownership Book) (2 copies)
• Original and photocopy of STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate) (2 copies)
• Receipt of vehicle purchase.

Before performing the online vehicle mutation at the new Samsat, you are required to carry out the document withdrawal process at the old Samsat Office. 

Make sure that the Samsat Office you visit corresponds to the license plate of the vehicle currently registered. When at the old Samsat Office, please go to the mutation counter and submit the various required documents.

After the document check is completed, the officer will conduct a physical inspection of the vehicle. 

The results of the inspection will be included in a document that will later be submitted to the mutation counter. At the mutation counter, you will be given a registration form that must be filled out according to the required data.

Online Motor Vehicle Mutation Procedure

Similarly to the online car mutation method, the motor vehicle mutation is also carried out at both the old and new Samsat Offices. The steps are as follows:

1. Prepare all the required documents.
2. Go to the Samsat according to the currently registered license plate to report the vehicle mutation.
3. Once you arrive, you can go directly to the mutation counter to submit the BPKB and KTP according to the destination area.
4. After that, your motor vehicle will undergo a physical check, such as scraping the frame and engine numbers.
5. Once the physical check is completed, you will be given a document of the results of the physical check that will later be submitted to the mutation counter.
6. At the mutation counter, submit all required documents in the form of two copies of photocopies of the BPKB, KTP, and STNK that have been prepared earlier.
7. Then proceed to the fiscal section to pay all the fees required during the document withdrawal process. Once you have completed the payment, please return to the mutation counter to confirm.
8. Next, wait until the documents are released within the time frame specified by the Samsat officer.
9. If all documents processed at the Samsat are not processed, you can report directly to the new Samsat and provide all documents to the mutation counter.
10. Your motor vehicle will be physically checked again by the Samsat officer. The Samsat officer will also conduct a cross-check with the local police.
11. If the mutation you are doing is an inter-provincial mutation, then wait until your new STNK and license plate are processed within a certain period.
12. When the specified time has arrived, you can return to the Samsat to collect the STNK and license plate and pay all fees charged to you.

These fees usually include taxes, license plate creation, STNK printing, and BPKB writing. You should know that the creation of the BPKB and STNK is done at different times.

This is done to avoid various problems that may arise in the future, including STNK renewal, tax payments, and so on. Once everything is settled, you can drive comfortably and safely.

Vehicle Mutation Costs

In addition to submitting various documents, at this stage you are also required to pay a certain fee that ranges from Rp75,000 to Rp250,000. 

If all the required data is complete, proceed to the fiscal counter to collect various documents that will be submitted to the new Samsat. 

After the documents processed at the old Samsat are released, the next step in the online car mutation is to report to the new Samsat and submit all documents to the mutation counter. 

Next, go to the physical check counter to legalize all documents. The Samsat officer will also conduct a cross-check with the local police if the mutation is inter-provincial.

Then wait for the new STNK, BPKB, and license plate to be issued within the specified time frame. 

When the specified time arrives, you can return to the Samsat to collect the STNK, BPKB, and new license plate. 

Don't forget to pay all necessary fees such as taxes, administration, STNK and BPKB printing, and license plates.

Types of Mutation 

Actually, the vehicle mutation process has two types, namely (1) mutation within the same area or inter-provincial and (2) mutation to another area. 

The meaning of mutation within the same area or inter-provincial is the transfer of the owner's address from one Samsat area to another Samsat with the same license plate number. However, for mutation to another area, the license plate number to be listed is different.
