E-Ticketing System Mechanism

Vehicle riders who do not comply with traffic regulations can be subject to sanctions commonly referred to as being ticketed. The ticketing process is usually carried out by the local Traffic Corps when they are conducting inspections or on duty on the road. However, now the Traffic Corps does not need to go directly to the field, as they have implemented e-ticketing.
Electronic Ticketing System Mechanism
The ticketing process with e-ticketing or electronic traffic law enforcement (E-TLE) is assisted by the presence of advanced cameras that can record violations by road users and are placed on several road segments. For those caught violating, a maximum fine of Rp 500 thousand will be imposed in accordance with Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport Article 287 paragraph 1.
In this e-ticketing system, vehicle documents such as driver's licenses or vehicle registration certificates will not be confiscated by the police as in manual ticketing. However, for those who do not pay the fine, their vehicle registration data will be blocked until the fine is paid. This system is actually implemented to reduce congestion, especially in the capital city, while also regulating drivers. The electronic ticket will later be sent to the driver's address.
The list of violations that will be subject to e-ticketing includes violations of road markings and signs, speed limit violations, violations of special lanes for certain vehicles, exceeding load capacity and dimensions, running red lights, going against traffic, driving without control, not wearing seat belts, and driving while using a mobile phone. You can also receive an electronic ticket if you do not turn on your lights, do not wear a helmet, and carry more than two passengers.
You will be sent a ticket letter by the police after the verification of the violating vehicle as an effort to impose sanctions, a maximum of three days after the incident where you were recorded by CCTV violating traffic regulations. You will also receive a photo evidence of the violation.
For residents of Jakarta who feel they did not violate or wish to file an objection, they can confirm through the website www.etle-pmj.info a maximum of five days after receiving the letter. An objection can be submitted if at the time of the incident your vehicle was being driven by someone else. Or if the vehicle is no longer yours but has not yet been transferred to the new owner.
Payment of Electronic Ticket Fines
When you receive an electronic ticket letter, you will get a fine payment slip according to the violation sanction along with a BRI virtual account code. The fine must be paid via BRI transfer using the provided virtual account code. The payment for the ticket will have a deadline of two weeks after the ticket slip is issued. If you do not pay within the specified time, your vehicle registration will be temporarily blocked.
You can unblock your vehicle registration by attending a ticket hearing at the District Court. This hearing is a means for you to object or if you have a strong argument to defend yourself. However, this hearing also has a validity period of only seven days after the ticket payment period ends. If you do not attend the ticket hearing at the specified time, your vehicle registration will be blocked and cannot be renewed, and can only be reactivated after you pay the ticket fine.
To avoid being subjected to electronic ticketing, always comply with traffic regulations, as these rules are made to prioritize your safety while driving. Although not all areas are equipped with CCTV cameras for electronic ticketing recording, traffic regulations must still be adhered to, especially regarding the use of helmets even if the driving distance is only 10 m or the destination is very close.
