Knowing 4 Causes of Weak Dynamo Amperes and How to Prevent Them
The ampere dynamo or car alternator is a component that generates electrical energy. The car alternator consists of a circuit that supplies electrical energy while the car is running, including charging the car battery.
A common problem is a weak car alternator. So, what causes a weak ampere dynamo? Here is the explanation.
1. Short Stator and Rotor Windings
The Stator and Rotor are components found in the ampere dynamo in the form of copper wire windings. These two components work using electromagnetic principles.
This principle aims to generate electrical energy that will later be supplied to all electrical components of the car.
Serving as the electrical energy distributor, the stator and rotor components can also cause the ampere dynamo to weaken. It is important to know that the stator and rotor are components of the car that are prone to short circuits or burning out.
If this happens, the ability to generate electricity disappears. Therefore, always conduct routine checks on the copper wire windings.
2. Weak Regulator IC
The regulator IC is also a component found in the ampere dynamo, which can be one of the causes of a weak ampere dynamo.
The regulator IC also plays an important role in regulating the electricity generated by the stator and rotor. The purpose of this regulation is to keep the electrical current within normal limits (13.6V – 14.3V).
There are three conditions that cause the regulator IC to weaken and potentially damage the ampere dynamo. The first is undercharge, which is a condition where the voltage from the regulator IC is less than 12V.
The second is overcharge, a condition where the electricity generated by the regulator IC exceeds 14.8V. Then the third is a damaged or dead IC.
These three conditions can cause the performance of the ampere dynamo to decline. To avoid these conditions, check the charging threshold using standard values between 13.6V and 14.3V. If the value shows a number that is less or more, take it to a service center for maintenance.

3. Carbon Brush of the Ampere Dynamo is Starting to Get Dirty
Another cause of a weak ampere dynamo can be the condition of the carbon brush being worn out. It is possible that the carbon has been worn down and accumulated dirt on its surface.
The obstruction of the carbon brush due to dirt can disrupt the flow of electricity. Therefore, always ensure that the carbon brush component is clean from dirt buildup.
4. Disruption of the Ampere Dynamo Circuit Connection
Connection disruptions that occur in the ampere dynamo circuit can also be a cause of weakening the ampere system. Several factors can cause disruptions, including loose connectors, blown fuses, and obstructed electrical conductors.
Such disruptions will clearly cause the electrical voltage to be interrupted. To avoid connection disruptions, it is advisable to perform regular servicing.
