Brakes are one of the most important components for controlling the speed of four-wheeled vehicles.

Therefore, many automotive companies are starting to produce vehicles with increasingly capable and sophisticated systems such as ABS technology brakes.

So, how does the ABS brake work? Here is a complete review.

What is ABS Technology Brake

ABS brakes or Anti Lock Braking System is an advanced braking system that functions to prevent the car's wheels from locking during sudden braking. This way, the safety of the driver is better guaranteed while driving the car.

The ABS brake itself consists of several capable and sophisticated components. These components work together to create an effective system to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers.

Generally, ABS brakes are equipped with a master cylinder, wheel cylinders, pumps, speed sensors, actuators, control modules, and others.

Advantages of ABS Brakes

Not stopping there, there are several advantages that can be gained from the way ABS brakes work.

With this braking system, four-wheeled vehicles will be safer because the brakes work quickly to process the braking instructions given by the driver.

In addition, the new technology applied to ABS brakes is considered more capable, as its operation is based on an effective and efficient computer system.

ABS brakes are also said to be more stable because they adjust the brake fluid pressure, so when sudden braking occurs, the car will not skid.

How the Anti Lock Braking System Works

The working principle of this brake is usually adjusted according to the computer settings or instructions. Then, the speed sensor will capture the speed results of each wheel to the controller (Control Module).

After obtaining data from these components, the ABS brake operation data will be processed back into an instruction to be sent to the Hydraulic Control Valve.

From here, the components will respond to be in position one, two, or three to reduce the vehicle's speed.

This process can occur very quickly, around five seconds, to stop a vehicle traveling at 100 km/h normally without locking the wheels.

In the case of sudden or abrupt braking, the wheels will usually lock automatically.

Thus, the four-wheeled vehicle being driven becomes unstable and can skid. However, this will not happen if the car is equipped with an advanced ABS braking system.

When the wheels are about to lock, the speed sensor will send data to the Control Module and instruct the valve to block the pressure.

This makes the ABS brake work by positioning the valve according to the data inputted previously. After that, the controller will send data back to the valve until optimal braking occurs.

That is some information about the working principle of ABS brakes on four-wheeled vehicles along with its advantages.

By using this braking system, the car being driven will be safer during sudden braking at high speeds. In addition, the car will also remain stable and not easily skid.
