The steps are as follows.

• Prepare the original BPKB, STNK, and ID card.
• Then visit the nearest Samsat. 
• Register and check the physical condition of the vehicle.
• Then go to the vehicle tax payment counter.

2. Check via e-Samsat

If you do not have much time to visit Samsat in person, you can check online through the e-Samsat website. Here are the steps.

• Visit the site https://e-samsat.id/riau/ on your laptop or smartphone browser.
• Then fill in the plate code, plate number, serial number, and the last five digits of the vehicle's chassis number as indicated in the columns. 
• Then select “Riau” from the “Select Province” menu.
• Next, click the “Check Now” button, and the website page will display the tax amount and complete vehicle information. 

3. Check via Bapenda Riau site

Next, you can use the Bapenda Riau site to access the tax amount for BM plate vehicles. Here are the steps.

• Visit the site https://bapenda.riau.go.id/dashboard/layanan/infopajak through your laptop or smartphone browser.
• Then fill in the “NOPOL (e.g., BM 1234 XX)” column with the vehicle plate number you want to check. Example: BM 4444 X.
• Then fill in the chassis number in the “LAST 5 DIGITS OF CHASSIS NUMBER” column.
• Once done, click the “Annual Tax / 5-Year Tax” button.
• Next, the Bapenda Riau site page will display the amount of vehicle tax that needs to be paid along with vehicle information.

4. Check via e-Samsat Riau application

You can also check the tax for BM plate vehicles through the official e-Samsat Riau application. Here are the steps.

• First, download the “E-SAMSAT RIAU” application.
• Then install the application.
• Open the application, then select the “Check Riau Vehicle Tax” menu.
• Then fill in the “NOPOL” column with the vehicle plate number you want to check.
• Then fill in the last chassis number in the “LAST 5 DIGITS OF CHASSIS NUMBER” column.
• Then click the “Annual Tax / 5-Year Tax” button.
• Next, the application page will display vehicle information along with the tax amount that you need to pay.
