Buying a second-hand or used motor vehicle has now become a trend among various circles. Considering its more affordable price compared to vehicles that are still fresh out of the factory. For someone who has just purchased a used vehicle, it is advisable to carry out the process of transferring the vehicle's name so that the vehicle becomes legally theirs. So how do you transfer the vehicle's name, the costs, and the requirements? Check it out below!

How to Transfer Vehicle Name 2024, Prepare the Following Requirements!

The process of transferring the name for each second-hand motor vehicle is indeed recommended. This is useful to avoid any legal issues in the future.

The process of transferring the name of a car or motorcycle is roughly the same and can be done at the nearest Samsat Office to your residence. However, before going there, it is better to complete some of the requirements.

What are the requirements for transferring the motorcycle's name? Here are some mandatory documents to bring:

  1. Original STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate) and 3 photocopies.
  2. Original KTP (Identity Card) and 3 photocopies.
  3. Original BPKB (Motor Vehicle Ownership Certificate) and 3 photocopies.
  4. Sales receipt of the motorcycle signed by the original owner.
  5. Stamp duty of Rp6,000.

Flow and Process of Vehicle Name Transfer 2024

As mentioned earlier, the transfer of motorcycle ownership is done at the Samsat Office (One-Stop Integrated System). The process and flow of how to transfer the STNK or BPKB of a motorcycle are as follows:

  • Go to the Samsat Office according to the residence listed on your KTP. However, if you do it outside your residence, you must process the withdrawal of documents at the Samsat Office according to the old owner's residence.
  • Prepare the documents and requirements for transferring the motorcycle's name as mentioned above.
  • For photocopies of KTP, STNK, and BPKB, staple them together and place them in a folder.
  • Put the original documents and the receipt in a separate folder.
  • Next, carry out a physical inspection of the vehicle at the Samsat Office, which will be conducted by the officer.
  • After the physical check, you will be given a slip of the physical check results, which will later be submitted along with several other required documents to the physical check validation counter for name transfer.
  • All documents you submit to that counter will be validated by the officer.
  • Then the results of that validation will be returned to you to proceed to the name transfer registration counter. Various required documents and the validation results from the previous counter.
  • Please submit them to the officer for inspection. After being checked, you will be given a form that must be filled out according to your original biodata.
  • Return the form to the counter officer, then wait until your name is called.
  • When your name is called, your original BPKB and KTP will be returned along with a receipt for the documents.
  • Please keep that document for use when picking up the new STNK.

Cost of BPKB and STNK Name Transfer for Motorcycles 2024

After knowing the requirements and the flow of how to transfer the motorcycle's name, how much does it cost to transfer the motorcycle's name in 2024? Actually, the cost of transferring the name for each motorcycle varies in different regions, but generally, the differences are not too significant.

For example, at the Samsat Office of Polda Metro Jaya DKI Jakarta, they set the cost for motorcycle name transfers for applicants in various sectors.

Here are the details of the latest motorcycle name transfer costs for 2024:

  1. SWDKLLJ or Mandatory Contribution for Road Traffic Accident Fund, which is a voluntary fund charged to motor vehicle taxpayers as insurance in case of an accident. The fee to be paid at the counter is Rp. 35,000,-.
  2. Administrative fee charged is Rp. 80,000,-.
  3. Cost of making a new BPKB for your vehicle is Rp. 80,000,-.
  4. Cost of printing a new STNK is around Rp. 50,000,-.
  5. Cost of making the police number attached to your motorcycle is around Rp. 30,000,-.
  6. Cost of name transfer or BBN KB, which varies according to the value of the vehicle you purchased, with a benchmark of 2/3 x the principal tax in the SKPD.
  7. Motor Vehicle Tax or PKB, which you are charged to pay according to the type, price, or age of the vehicle you own.

Usually, the PKB is listed on the Vehicle Registration Certificate or STNK of the previous owner of the motorcycle.
