Test Lamp Digunakan Untuk Apa? Ini Cara Menggunakannya!

In recent years, the use of test lamps has become widespread in the automotive world. So, what is a test lamp used for? You must be curious, right? To find out the answer, let’s pay attention to the explanation below along with the correct way to use it. Here is the complete explanation.

What is a Test Lamp Used For?

Before you learn about the actual use of a test lamp, you need to know what a test lamp is. Essentially, a test lamp is an electrical testing tool similar to a test pen. However, at the negative end of the test lamp, there is a wire that functions as a conductor of electric current.

The test lamp was created to determine the performance of fuel injectors in the latest car models. As you know, modern cars now use the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, commonly known as the injection system.

Cars that have adopted this system use injectors during the process of distributing fuel to the combustion chamber. To find out whether the injector is functioning properly or not, you need to use a test lamp.

This way, you will know whether there is an electric current present in the injector. If the test lamp indicator light is off, or there is no electric current when the engine is running, it can be concluded that there is an electrical issue with the car's injector.

Such electrical issues can cause the car to suddenly die. This happens because the solenoid component cannot function properly to open or close, causing a slow fuel supply. Additionally, other problems such as difficulty starting the car (in starting) and engine stalling at high RPMs will also likely occur.

Using a test lamp can also minimize the risk of electric shock when testing the function of the car's injector. As is known, electric shocks can be hazardous to health and can even cause death if shocked with a sufficiently high voltage.

How to Use a Test Lamp Correctly

There are several correct ways to use a test lamp that you need to know to avoid electric shock. Here are the complete steps.

1. Wear gloves

To avoid the risk of electric shock, first, you need to wear gloves. The fabric or synthetic material of the gloves can inhibit the flow of electric current.

2. Prepare the test lamp

The second step is to prepare the test lamp. Then connect the negative end of the test lamp to the positive terminal of the battery. This way, the test lamp will receive electric current from the battery, allowing the test lamp indicator to light up when the positive end touches the injector.

3. Attach the positive end of the test lamp

Next, you need to attach the positive end of the test lamp, or the part of the test lamp that resembles a flat screwdriver. This step is necessary to determine whether there is an electric current in the injector or the car's ECU.

4. Observe the test lamp indicator light

Finally, you need to observe the indicator light of the test lamp. If the injector has an electric current, the test lamp indicator will light up. However, if the indicator light is off, then there is no electric current flowing to the injector. If this happens, you need to be cautious because your car's fuel injector may be damaged.

It turns out that using a test lamp is quite easy, right? Let’s take your car to the Daihatsu workshop immediately if your car's fuel injector is damaged. So that the car's performance can be optimal when maneuvering.
