Shock breaker that is rusty can be a problem for your beloved car. This part is quite vital, so it must always be ensured that its condition is OK.

Car components must be in prime condition. This concerns the safety and comfort of the driver and passengers of the vehicle. To avoid problems, check carefully, both at the workshop and independently.

How to Prevent Rust on Shock Breaker Ends?

Rust is a nightmare for motor vehicles, including cars. Because of this, vehicles can suffer damage. Especially if it occurs in vital parts, it can certainly disrupt safety.

For those of you who often pass through flood areas or vehicles that must traverse the rain, it is advisable to be careful. Rainwater has a fairly high acid content, making it easy to cause rust.

The part of the car that often gets wet from rain is the end of the shock breaker, making it prone to rust. Although some have protection in the form of rubber material, water can still seep in.

To prevent water from seeping in and potentially causing rust, you must be diligent and often check it. However, this is certainly difficult to do because during the rainy season, the car may get wet every day. The following steps can be taken:

1. Apply Glue on the Rubber Cap Side

Water is a substance that easily seeps in. Even if it is covered with rubber, if there is even a slight gap, it can still seep in. Applying glue around the rubber cap will make it tight.

Use glue that can withstand water strongly so that the inside is completely dry. Make sure that before installing the spare part, the glue applied is firmly attached.

2. Direct Water Drainage to a Safe Area

Proper water drainage can prevent seepage towards the shock breaker shaft. This way, the spare part is safe, so rust cannot come, which will certainly make driving more comfortable.

3. Apply Grease on the Shock Shaft End

Grease is commonly applied to the shock breaker before installation. This substance has been proven to keep the spare part away from rust. The function of grease is as a coating so that the iron parts are not reachable and safe.

Before applying, pay attention to the part that will be greased. Do not make a mistake because the performance of spare parts varies. If grease gets on parts that it shouldn't, it can actually reduce driving comfort.

4. Use Rust Remover

Many rust removers are sold. Some can even be made using substances found at home. However, when choosing a rust remover, pay attention to whether the material is safe for your spare parts or other parts of your car.

Apply the rust remover as needed according to the usage instructions. Each material has a different method of use. The amount of rust remover applied also varies.

5. Loosen the Bolt Nut

By loosening and then tightening the bolt nut again, it will remove the rust that has adhered. This method can be done periodically, especially when performing a tune-up. Before it thickens, this method is effective in driving away rust.

When taking the car to the workshop, don't forget to remind the technician to check the shock breaker shaft. With regular checks, you can ensure its condition. Of course, this also prevents rust.
