There is no doubt that the clutch plays an important role in a four-wheeled vehicle. Included in the car chassis, the clutch serves as a separator between the engine rotation and the transmission. When it operates, the clutch is assisted by several components. Curious about what components make up a car's clutch? Here is the review.

1. Clutch Pedal (Clutch Pedal)

The first component of the clutch is called the clutch pedal or clutch pedal. Located inside the car cabin, this component is accompanied by the gas pedal and the brake pedal.

Normally, the clutch pedal is positioned farthest to the left of the gas and brake pedals. This arrangement is to facilitate the driver's left foot in operating it.

Uniquely, this clutch pedal can only be found in four-wheeled vehicles equipped with a manual transmission system. Its function is to transmit the driver's foot pressure to another clutch component called the master clutch

The performance of this car clutch component causes the rotation from the engine to the transmission to be interrupted.

2. Upper Clutch Master Cylinder

Also known as the master clutch, this component is located at the top and close to the engine room

The upper clutch master cylinder is tasked with gradually transmitting pressure from the clutch pedal to the lower clutch master cylinder through a liquid or fluid medium. The hydraulic pressure will then be transmitted back to the power clutch.

Not only that, this clutch component also functions to amplify the driver's force when pressing the clutch pedal. The cylinder of this component is connected to the clutch pedal via a push rod.

In this clutch component called the master cylinder, there is a reservoir tank used for storage.

3. Lower Clutch Master Cylinder

After discussing the upper component, we move on to the lower clutch master cylinder. In terms of its function, it is actually not much different, as it serves to transmit pressure from the upper master cylinder.

Then, that pressure will be continued as a driving medium for another component, namely the release fork or also called the clutch fork.

Also known as the power clutch, this component is located at the bottom near the transmission. It is important to know that the power clutch is a hydraulic clutch component that can convert hydraulic pressure into mechanical pressure directed to the release fork.

Later, its hydraulic pipe will be used as a connector between the upper and lower parts of the clutch.

4. Release Fork

As the name suggests, this car clutch component does indeed have a shape resembling a fork. The release fork serves as a push for the release bearing to apply pressure to the clutch cover

So when you press the clutch pedal, the release fork will push with a regular back-and-forth motion aimed at interrupting the engine rotation.

In a four-wheeled vehicle, it consists of several components with various tasks. Each of these components has its own important role, such as the clutch.

If the component called the clutch is absent, then this vehicle may not function as usual. Given its importance, it is advisable to always maintain it.
