For you motor vehicle owners, the term carburetor may not be unfamiliar. The carburetor is one of the important components in a car, which greatly affects the fuel system. 

Therefore, regular maintenance and cleaning are necessary. Here are easy ways to clean a car's carburetor that can be applied.

1. Prepare the Tools

The first thing you need to do to clean the carburetor part of the car is to prepare various tools. 

The carburetor is located in the car's engine, so you need to do a little disassembly. The tools needed include a 10, 12, and 14 wrench, pliers, carburetor cleaner, and both flat and Phillips screwdrivers.

2. Open the Air Filter Housing

After all the tools are prepared, start by opening the air filter housing along with the filter on the carburetor. 

You can use a 10 and 12 wrench to remove the nuts and bolts around the filter housing. In doing this step, you need to be careful, as failure to do so can cause the bolts to break or strip.

3. Open the Drain Bolt

The next way to clean the car's carburetor is to open the drain bolt. The drain bolt itself is located at the front of the carburetor body and serves as a cover bolt. 

To easily open this bolt, you can use a wrench that is about 14 mm. After the drain bolt is removed. 

Next, spray all parts including the drain bolt with carburetor cleaner. When spraying, make sure that no dirt remains in the gaps of the carburetor.

4. Adjust the Air Setting Entering the Carburetor

After you successfully clean everything inside the carburetor, to continue the steps on how to clean the car's carburetor, you need to reattach the bolts on the carburetor. 

Then adjust the air setting entering the carburetor, so that it idles. Idle or idle is the condition where the engine is running but not operating.

To achieve this idle position, you can turn the air screw about 1.5 turns. Then cover it with your palm several times to expel any remaining dirt in the carburetor.

This way, you can achieve the idle position and the air setting will also be free from dirt and dust that stick.

5. Spray Using Carburetor Cleaner

The next tip for cleaning the carburetor part is to spray the carburetor using carburetor cleaner. This treatment may cause the engine RPM to drop or even stall. 

If so, you can open the throttle and restart the engine. You can conclude the car carburetor cleaning process if the carburetion condition is clean.

After the carburetion condition is clean, it is advisable to reset the air to achieve stable engine RPM. Every car component indeed has its own role, including the carburetor. 

Therefore, you must maintain it by regularly cleaning it from dirt and dust that stick to that component.
