Car radiator fluid is a cooling liquid and an important component that functions to maintain the temperature of the engine so that it remains stable and does not overheat. Do not let this component run out. So, what are the signs that the car radiator fluid is running low? Read more below!

Basically, every car produced on the market is equipped with radiator fluid to maintain the car's temperature so that it does not experience overheating. To avoid overheating, you should always check the volume of the radiator fluid to ensure it does not run out.

Because if left empty, the car can experience more serious damage, and the engine could stall. To prevent this from happening, make sure you know when this component is running low. If you are not aware, pay attention to the signs and how to address them.

Signs That the Car Radiator Fluid is Running Low

As we know, the function of radiator fluid in cars is very important. Therefore, do not let this component run out. How can you tell if the radiator fluid is low? There are 5 signs, read more below.

1. The Engine Sounds Rough

The first way you can notice that the radiator fluid is low is if the engine sounds rough. This condition occurs because the engine temperature is very high, affecting the combustion system.

Normally, combustion should proceed normally, but if the temperature is high, the process will occur more quickly.

2. The AC Temperature Becomes Less Cool

The second sign that may occur if the car radiator fluid is low can be noticed from the air produced by the AC becoming less cool and cold even though the AC has been on for a long time, and the AC freon is still not empty.

This happens because the engine will automatically turn off the AC compressor if the car temperature is too high.

3. The Temperature Indicator on the Engine Moves Towards Red

Signs that the radiator fluid needs to be replaced is when the needle on the temperature indicator on the engine moves towards the red area. If this condition occurs, it means you need to refill the car's radiator fluid immediately.

4. The Hood Emits Steam

The next sign is that the car hood will emit steam. This happens due to the evaporation of radiator fluid that is too full or a leak in the radiator hose, either due to it coming loose or breaking.

5. The Car Engine Becomes Less Powerful

Causes of rapid radiator fluid depletion even though there are no leaks can be felt as the performance of your car engine becoming less powerful even though you have pressed the gas harder and increased the RPM when the car is moving.

How to Prevent Car Radiator Fluid from Running Low

If you already know the signs and causes above, then you need to know how to prevent radiator fluid from running low. Here are the steps.

1. Close the Radiator with a Quality Cap

One of the factors that cause radiator fluid to run low is damage to the radiator cap. Make sure you close the radiator with a quality cap made from the best material.

You can use original products according to your car manufacturer's brand or look for recommendations for the best and best-selling products in the marketplace.

2. Regularly Drain the Radiator Fluid

How often does the car radiator fluid run low? For cars, every 2 months. You can perform the radiator fluid draining process regularly and periodically at least every 2 months to avoid corrosion and engine overheating.

3. Check the Radiator Hose Periodically

A loose or broken radiator hose can cause the hood to emit steam. Also, ensure that the radiator hose is not blocked to prevent other issues.
