How much is the electronic traffic fine? This question is often asked by motor vehicle users, especially those who are still confused about the implementation of the electronic ticketing system. To avoid confusion regarding the amount of the fine imposed, it is advisable to pay attention to the review below carefully. Here is the complete review. 

Amount of Electronic Traffic Fines Based on the Type of Violation

As is known, electronic ticketing is a new ticketing system that replaces the manual ticketing system. This ticketing system relies on CCTV cameras installed at various points on the highway to monitor traffic violations. The presence of these CCTV cameras makes it easier for traffic police to monitor traffic conditions and violations that occur in real time. Thus, all forms of traffic violations can be well recorded so that violators can no longer evade the violations they have committed. 

So how much is the electronic traffic fine? Is the amount of the fine the same for different types of violations? According to Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation, the amount of electronic traffic fines varies depending on the type of violation. The following are the amounts of fines based on the type of violation. 

1. Not Wearing a Helmet

According to Article 290, motorcyclists who commit the violation of not wearing a helmet and are recorded by the electronic ticketing CCTV camera will be fined a maximum of Rp250,000 or face a maximum imprisonment of one month.

2. Using a Smartphone While Driving

For motorcyclists or car drivers who use gadgets (smartphones) while driving, you will be charged under Article 289. Therefore, you will face a penalty of imprisonment for one month or pay a fine of up to Rp250,000.

3. Not Wearing a Seatbelt

The sophistication of the electronic ticketing CCTV camera can record the actions of car drivers who do not wear seatbelts. If this violation is recorded by the CCTV camera, the driver can be charged under Article 289 and face a penalty of one month in prison or pay a fine for not wearing a seatbelt of up to Rp250,000.

4. Violating Traffic Signs and Road Markings

Drivers recorded by the electronic ticketing CCTV committing violations such as violating traffic signs or road markings will be charged under Article 287. The driver will have to pay a fine of up to Rp500,000 or face a maximum imprisonment of two months.

5. Using Fake License Plates

When a driver uses a vehicle with fake license plates and is recorded by surveillance cameras, they will be charged under Article 280. Under this article, the driver is required to pay a fine of up to Rp500,000 or face imprisonment for two months.

6. Violating Speed Limits

For drivers who like to speed and violate speed limits, they will be fined up to Rp500,000 or face a maximum of two months in prison. This refers to Article 286 paragraph 5 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation. 

7. Running a Red Light

For drivers who like to run red lights, they will be charged under Article 287 and face a maximum imprisonment of two months or a fine of up to Rp500,000.

8. Driving Against Traffic

For drivers who drive against traffic, they will be charged under Article 287 Paragraph 1. Thus, the driver needs to pay a fine of up to Rp500,000 or face a maximum imprisonment of two months. 

9. Odd-Even Violation

For this violation, the driver is subject to a fine of up to Rp500,000 or a maximum of two months in prison.

10. Carrying Three Passengers on a Motorcycle

For motorcycle users who commit this violation, they will be fined up to Rp250,000 or face imprisonment for one month.
